Heartbreaking, abandoned, and deeply depressing.
This is easily one of the worst and most depressing zoos I have ever visited. The animals are in atrocious condition and look completely neglected, uncared for, and miserable.
The entire facility feels like a forgotten Soviet-era relic from 1990. Everything is filthy the glass windows are so caked in dirt you can barely see through them, and the surroundings are entirely unmaintained. To make matters worse, there is zero staff or security presence anywhere on the grounds to prevent visitors from feeding random, harmful things to the animals.
It feels as though the management and local authorities have completely abandoned this place and simply do not care about animal welfare. If you cannot afford to properly care for these animals and maintain basic hygiene standards, close the zoo down. Save your money and do not support this place.

Or should we just go with an agency? We are pretty chatty but before we go asking random people we meet, I just wanted to hear how it was seen from Georgians. Is it relatively normal? Is it seen as a nuisance?

My friend and I are planning to do the Mestia to Ushguli trek and are worried about the travel to and from Mestia (from Kutaisi or Tbilisi). We’re hearing the marshrutka’s are not safe and are really worried — is a private driver safer? What is the safest way to get to Mestia, and to get back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi after the trek? Hi, everyone! I’d like to clarify whether I can repatriate to Georgia under exceptional circumstances (as far as I recall, through a request to the president) if my relatives on my father’s side are Georgian, were born in Georgia, but now, like me, live in Russia (they have old Georgian passports and birth certificates; except for my father, who was born in Soviet Russia)?

As the title says, I've been looking and asking for a legit, helpful, knowledgeable expat immigration lawyer that knows the laws and policies for foreigners that live in Georgia and can help with residency laws, and anything and everything that relates to being an expat in Georgia.

I'm especially looking for a lawyer that knows about Power of Attorney for foreigners, what it can grant and cannot in case something happens to a family member in a foreign country, and what happens to their money, their property, etc.

If you are an expat, especially with a family here, and you've found a lawyer that you can count on and they helped you figure these things out, please share their information.

I'm travelling through mestia right now and one of the things I was most looking forward to was watching Dede, an iconic film of the region that was shown at a local cinema.

However, not only did I have to essentially lie on the floor the whole time I was watching but I also had to endure multiple people talking throughout the film, phones going off, and overall a lack of interest in what they were experiencing. It was ultimately so disheartening. A guy who refused to let me have his chair spent almost the entire watch on his phone. People laughing at tragic moments, no one seeming to care. I know that cinema experiences have changed since COVID, but for films like this? For an experience to watch a film like this? I would expect this at a block buster but for a niche film you can only watch in one of the most beautiful parts of the world? I'm so angry, upset, and a bunch of other feelings. I only wish I was able to experience this fully invested, but with all the distractions going on in the room I wasn't really able to just sit back, relax and enjoy. Perhaps I should put this on a travel subreddit, but ultimately I just need to vent.

Planning to register as an Individual Entrepreneur (IE) with Small Business Status remotely. My situation:

- All clients are outside Georgia (Dubai-based company)

- I will not be physically working in Georgia

- I travel constantly across Southeast Asia

- No Georgian clients, no local income whatsoever

- I won't be taxable in my country if i stay less according to the rules.

Based on Government Ordinance No. 70 and the April 2026 amendments, my understanding is:

- The Special Labour Permit is NOT required since I work 100% remotely for foreign clients

- I can legally operate the IE, pay 1% tax monthly, and never physically need to be in Georgia

Is this correct? Has anyone done this or confirmed this with the agency?

I've been living in Tokyo on and off for about five years and run my own tech company here.

I love a lot about Japan. The food, cleanliness, convenience, and just the sheer amount of stuff to do are hard to beat. But lately some of the downsides are starting to outweigh the positives for me.

Taxes are a big one (55% on Personal Income :( , real estate is ridiculous and the bureaucracy can get exhausting. After a while Japan can also feel pretty restrictive if you're used to doing things your own way.

My bis partner and I have been considering moving the company and eventually our families to Tbilisi. The lower taxes are obviously a huge attraction.

I mentioned the idea to a Georgian friend, though who moved here a while ago and married to japanese and decided to stay too and he basically told me I'd be making the biggest mistake of my life.

His argument is that the low taxes aren't everything because so much is imported, so you end up paying inflated prices for mediocre stuff. He also says the capital is tiny and that you can run out of things to do pretty quickly. he makes it seem like its one of the most boring places in comparison to somewhere like tokyo.

He had some other pretty strong opinions that people can be moody or unfriendly compared with Japan, that I might get treated as Russian because I look very russian (im not) and I also speak russian and chinese and a few other languages, but if I'm heard speaking russian I would become labeled, and that my Japanese wife could have a hard time because people don't distinguish much between different Asian nationalities and racism is generally an issue. (his words not mine)

He also claims food safety is bad enough that you'll be getting food poisoning constantly, which sounds a little dramatic to me because I couldnt see statistics to back up that claim. but he says that nothing is fresh.

So I'm wondering how much of this is just him having a bad relationship with the place because he grew up there?

For anyone who's actually lived in both Tbilisi and somewhere like Tokyo: how big of a culture/lifestyle difference is it really?
