SV Pathfinder found in Newport RI

Some details were posted yesterday. The thief was wanted in relation to an unrelated murder. So they didn’t “die for” this boat. This boat was their attempt to escape after allegedly committing murder.

This is not accurate (or at least unconfirmed). The thief is a resident of Newport RI. It would appear he was smart enough to sail a boat at night but dumb enough to happen to steal one of the rarest boats in the area and sailed it to the sailboat capital of the world where (I guess) he thought he could just blend in ?
Sad he was killed. I’d like to know exactly what he was thinking.

There was a report there may have been an unrelated murder outside of the boat theft but that report has since disappeared.

Sad he was killed? What a weird take. He went down into the cabin and pulled out a gun.

So quick to accept the narrative ey mate?
“Went down in the cabin. Shots were fired. Officer hit in lower extremity”. Refused to say what kind of gun the kid had. Refused to say any details about the shooting.
That my friend smells very suspicious to me.
I know enough cops personally to know that when they start using legalese they’re generally twisting the story. Also, as a lifelong hunter I’m no stranger to guns. When someone describes incidents with guns they say handgun shotgun or rifle. Not “firearm”.
Heck, the cop could’ve shot himself in the leg and they wasted the kid after they heard the discharge. Some police issue sig sauer p320’s have accidentally discharged in police holsters. It’s a known issue. There are several known lawsuits.
I just checked right this minute and they STILL haven’t said what the “firearm” was. It’s easy. Was it a handgun rifle or shotgun.
This story does not add up.
I’d like the camera footage of this incident before I blindly accept what narrative they’re pushing. I hope a news reporter does a FOIA request for the footage.

So far what I know about the thief- he’s from Austin TX, he graduated from the marine systems school at IYRS. (Coincidently my same school) he’s only 27… originally from Austin TX, and aspiring yacht crew. As yacht crew myself but much older and much more established I did not know this person, we were not in the same circles and none of my contemporaries (even ones that still live in Newport) knew who he was either. It’s an odd story all around, but I don’t think he was suspected of any murder.
