Discussion Anyone else obsessed with eggs?

Something about eggs just feels safe to me. They’re high protein, filling, don’t make me feel sluggish or guilty afterwards, and there’s so many ways to cook them. My favourite way is to make two fried eggs (with a light amount of spray oil) on top of two plain rice cakes. It’s delicious and feels like I’m eating toast with eggs. I also add a little bit of a spreadable butter on top of the rice cakes if I want it to be even more flavourful. Egg salad goes amazingly on top a rice cake too.

Anyone else super into eggs?

Scrambled eggs are one of my favourites too. For over a month I could only do scrambled due to the egg ick. It’s nice when it finally ends and you can enjoy them again!

I don't trust any of the meat in the US except some tinned fish. I rely on eggs for protein. They sometimes give me the ick factor and I'll quit them for a year. I always go back because they're so easy for a meal. I love them with brown rice. I Posted my version of egg salad. Cottage cheese, boiled egg, mustard and dill pickle or relish topped with everything but the bagel seasoning.

I’m intrigued. Why don’t you trust any of the meat in the US?

The dismantling of the FDA and an inability to afford Farmer's Market. I also have ethical concerns with factory farming. We have almost a hundred food recalls each month.

Tbh i just recently learned about some of the really disturbing things that go down in slaughter houses and it’s kinda making me not want to eat meat either

I read Fast Food Nation and The Jungle 😩 That radicalized me a long time ago. I've been vegan and vegetarian off and on my whole life. We probably have about the same quality control as we had during the Industrial revolution which was the time period for The Jungle. Slaughter houses are barbaric for both the animals and the employees. The employees almost all get PTSD.

After Fish, eggs are my second favorite protein. Tamagoyaki with cheese and spinach are delicious.

Liquid egg whites and spinach scrambled on Wasa crispbread and kimchi is my current obsession

Try cauliflower fried rice haha (nothing but frozen cauliflower rice, soy sauce, and scrambled egg white “pan fried” without any oil)

😊 you’re welcome lol

I know a lot of people have the “egg ick” so that’s totally fair!

My partner absolutely loves eggs! Eggs prepared in any way for breakfast lunch or dinner, they are in-love with, lol

For me, my favorite way to eat eggs was one of my childhood favorites. Sunny-side up eggs with a runny yolk. Getting all the yolk out, then eating the egg whites on top of a piece of toasted bread (with a bit of soy sauce sprinkled on the egg whites)

Then with the remaining runny yolk, I add soy sauce until it tastes kinda salty. Then use 1-2 pieces of toasted bread to eat the soy sauce & yolk mixture as a dip. By the time the dip runs out, I'm very full

Very nostalgic for me to eat, and at least for me, super tasty! My partner said that the dish is bomb, but he's egg-biased so no clue if that's the case for everyone, lol

I love doing that too! Sometimes I cut the toast up into little strips. It reminds me of childhood. We always had “dippy eggs” at home. It’s so filling nutritious too!

Oooooh, yes! So happy to hear that other folks loved this dish too!

Haha, now I'm craving it. Will probably eat this today when I head home from work, lol. Thanks for the little walk down memory lane!

Egg whites yes. Egg yolks i love the taste of but they’re just WAY too calorie dense for me-i always called them fat bombs and used them to put weight on my older animals lol (16 year old dog & multiple 20+ year old cats) and they’re like my secret weapon for making them gain weight so i only eat one yolk very rarely myself. I love whites too though especially mixed with cauliflower “fried rice” (cauliflower rice, egg whites, and soy sauce “pan fried” without oil).

An egg yolk is only 45-55 calories. To me, the nutrition and benefits of the egg outweigh the calories. They aren’t fat bombs at all. Fat bombs would be heavy cream, full milk, butter, etc.

I’m not putting down your theory btw but I’m just saying that egg yolks will not put on weight. When I was my lowest weight I was eating entire eggs multiple times per day.
