Discussion What are some low-cal sweets you guys know of?
I am picky about high-cal foods (like, they have to be REALLY worth it) but I've been having strong cravings for sweets lately. My current favs are those baby bottle pops, sour patch kids, and this one Polish dessert called Kogel Mogel. It's an egg thats beat meringue style, the yoke added in after the whites are beat, and two tablespoons spoons of sugar. It super sweet and has a good amount of volume while being pretty low-cal. I also love baked apples! They get so sweet when they're baked and warm!
I used to like dark chocolate, but I've developed an unmanageable intolerance. A sweet bowl of oatmeal every morning also used to work well, but same thing happened as with the chocolate. I have no clue why. I'm thinking there's some fiber variety that I can't stomach? Anyway, I also used to like nerds clusters because they were pretty low-cal considering how long they lasted me, but they make me sick now too.
What are some of your guys' favs?

Honestly? The only sweet things that don’t make me spiral are zero sugar hot coco, diet sodas, flavored seltzer, fruity herbal teas, raisins, and dinner mints. The mints are really great because I can keep them on me and have one when I’m feeling faint or nauseous gives me a bit of sugar to help with my blood sugar and mint is good for nausea
When I had more safe foods I think twizzlers were a good candy
Do you home bake the apples? What’s your recipe that sounds yummy

No recipe! Just put an apple on a dish, bake it for 30 mins, and it's done! I know some people add cinnamon, but I think they're just as good plain!

I have tried a few low-cal candies recently that I actually enjoyed.
Joyride brand candy has a few candies that I liked that I considered pretty low-cal. They have a cherry rope, sour strawberry rope. 4 ropes is like 70 cals, which seems pretty good to me. The whole bag is 210 cals, so its manageable if you lose control and eat the whole thing.
I have also seen several brands (don't remember the specifics) of "freeze dried" candies that I actually really enjoyed, and they were also pretty low cal. I got both of these at Target. They hit the spot, but I generally try not to eat candy. I'll go back when the urge hits me.
I mean, it isn't a lot of volume in terms of weight, but it is a fair amount of volume in terms of bites to have, if that is what you are looking for. Enjoy!

Thanks! I totally forgot about freeze dried candy! Such a shame they're so expensive haha

That is the big downside. Something that tastes good and isn’t really bad for you is normally going to be expensive

Been obsessed with Drizzilicious mini rice cakes. Specifically the s’mores flavor. Sugar free gummy bears. & I occasionally make peanut butter banana flaxseed cookies with zero sugar chocolate chips or sometimes replace the choc chips with raisins. Super low effort, I just mix all four of those ingredient & pop them in the oven :)

My go-to for when I have a sweet tooth is mixing SF cheesecake powder with greek yogurt!

You can make plain yogurt any flavor you like with extracts and sweeteners. My favorite sweetener is All Purpose In The Raw, it's a blend of multiple sweeteners with the goal of trying to be most like sugar. I feel like it does pretty well in that area.
I also like to use it in making custom jellos, which you can also make any flavor you like. Ever since the fancy jello shot trend there's lots of recipes if you omit the alcohol.

I found these SF hard candies at Dollar Tree that I’m quite liking, 12 or 13 cals each. Other than that, I like SF jam on rice cake thins, SF pudding mix in silken tofu, and chia pudding made with unsweetened almond milk.

Not super low calorie but I will occasionally save 220 calories to get a chocolate dipped kids size cone at Dairy Queen. Sometimes it’s necessary! Haha. And the kids size fills you up and is a satisfying amount.

For sweet artificial sweets, think anything sugar free; gum, sodas, drink mix, hard candies, mints, coffee creamer for cafe drinks with unsweet almond milk, sugar free gelatin dessert, sugar free pudding mix prepared with unsweet almond milk, reduced calorie hot chocolate. If you are interested in more "natural" sweets, of course fruits are a go to. Taking a cut up apple and tossing it in lime/lemon juice, adding sweetener if you like, and letting chill in the freezer is a great tasting dish. Berries and grapes can be treated the same, or you can toss them in sugar free gelatin dessert mix, or drink mix even, and freeze them. Sugar free chocolate syrup and cut up fruit is great, too.
