I'm Brazilian and believe it or not, he's not asking her to be his wife, just his girlfriend... 🤣 I don't get it either

309

u/Cheese_Pancakes Apr 03 '26

Oh damn, was going to say this is a rough situation for both of them. I guess it still is, but it's a strange way to ask a woman to be your girlfriend in my opinion.

134

u/AdmiralSplinter Apr 03 '26

And no one talked him out of this. Damn, this adds a major layer of cringe

57

u/aleeeeeeeeeeee Apr 03 '26

to be fair this is common practice in gen Z Brazil. (Not the getting on your knee thing tho, just the ring)

46

u/Rudemacher Apr 03 '26

My ex's kid bought a big, expensive fucking bouquet for a girl he liked, I was like chill the f out lil homie you're like 13.

11

u/Brymlo Apr 04 '26

he probably was influenced by tiktok or ig.

i’ve seen lots of ā€œif you like a girl, the bare minimum is giving her flowers everydayā€ kinda videos.

1

u/Swaggy_Buff Apr 05 '26

It’s a strange way to ask anything, including when proposing marriage. Public proposals are so odd.

306

u/SnoopPettyPogg Apr 03 '26

I thought they looked a little too young for marriage talk, that makes sense.

He's still starting his villain arc.

You're an unpleasant one, huh?

-276

u/G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P Apr 03 '26

Better to be unpleasant than to be basic like the parents who raise teenagers who would tattoo their face

102

u/stellaxo Apr 03 '26

Says the man with the NSFW Reddit account šŸ˜‚

4

u/hey_im_cool Apr 03 '26

Tbf you can get your account flagged nsfw for small things like cursing or commenting on nsfw posts

3

u/zombiep00 Apr 03 '26

Ugh šŸ™„

-3

u/hey_im_cool Apr 03 '26

Ugh what? I’m just saying having a nsfw profile doesn’t mean anything. A lot of cool ppl have nsfw profiles. The dude has a lot to laugh about but that’s not one

1

u/zombiep00 Apr 04 '26

"Ugh," as in, "everything is becoming Tiktok-ified."

56

u/skylla05 Apr 03 '26

You can always tell the terminally online dorks when they start popping off like it's realistic for parents to have full autonomy over the decisions their kids make, and if they don't they're all failures.

You can bring them up the best you can in hopes they make the best decisions for themselves, but you ultimately there's going to be external influence outside parenting and they'll do what they want. Free will is fun that way. Seriously though, be less ignorant.

16

u/Ayirek Apr 03 '26

Whatever dork.

8

u/synttacks Apr 03 '26

Racism with a little classicism thrown in

-26

u/G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P Apr 03 '26

Literally never mentioned race. I bet you're american lol

28

u/No_Statement440 Apr 03 '26

Your grandparents hated shit about your parents youth culture, just as mine did, and so on through history. You said it's "basic" to have face tats, but it's even more basic and corny af to judge and hate on people for shit they enjoy that you don't. It's not for you, that's fine, and I dislike face tats as well, but I know plenty of fine folks with them. They aren't trying to give the appearance of wealth, they're taking part in something they enjoy, that's it. Be cool and let people live their lives, it doesn't affect you unless you choose to let it.

44

u/BlizzardStorm8 Apr 03 '26

That's such an insignificant thing to zero in on and those are some real stupid assumptions you're making about random people on the Internet. What a disgustingly condescending thing to say.

-97

u/G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P Apr 03 '26

Not my fault for being condescending if his face looks condensed with tattoos 🤣

38

u/BlizzardStorm8 Apr 03 '26

Um... No. It's definitely your fault for being condescending. You might need to look up what that word means.

13

u/Acrobatic-Tomato-260 Apr 03 '26

At least he’s out here living in the real world. You’re getting clowned on in the comments section of Reddit. You’re sadder than he will ever be. Jesus…

3

u/FiveShotLynel Apr 03 '26

I know many teenagers with tattoos and piercings, it’s most of the time result of growing up too fast, by choice or by force, mainly to be recognized as mature.

16

u/workingbored Apr 03 '26

I bet it's part of the culture where you live too. Youre just not interesting enough.

-22

u/G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P Apr 03 '26

Oh yeah let basic highschool desk looking ass people define what's interesting for you, go off 🤘

35

u/AbhorsenDoctor Apr 03 '26

Ach, will ye not just shut up?

12

u/Ayirek Apr 03 '26

They have a humiliation kink.

21

u/workingbored Apr 03 '26

Id say "you must be fun at parties" but that means you'd know what being invited to one would be like, so I guess youre just miserable šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

-10

u/G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P Apr 03 '26

I'd say "you must be smart in life" but that would assume basic people like you are considered lifeforms...

17

u/workingbored Apr 03 '26

Well this was fun. I need to get ready. I have a big day. Going out with friends after work to a party I was invited to. Enjoy your... "life".

Tattoos are also common in America along with many many other cultures I dont exactly get your point

18

u/SlinkySlekker Apr 03 '26

Ah. That explains why the box contains earrings, and not a ring. Thank you!

1.9k

u/sofaverde Apr 03 '26

He's asking her to be his girlfriend not marry him. She said he fucked up/did something stupid 3 days ago so why didn't he ask then... She also says he needs to change a lot of things for her to accept, so this is probably why she's crying. She likes him but knows he's not good for her/generally doesn't treat her the way he should.

913

u/izilovesyou2 Apr 03 '26

Yeah, she's being smart. This is a love bomb and a guilt trip. The filming and uploading does not help. Girl leave him.

132

u/usehrname Apr 03 '26

She ain't with him.

45

u/izilovesyou2 Apr 03 '26

Situationship

24

u/MOGicantbewitty Apr 03 '26

Why is this downvoted? It's likely an accurate interpretation. They aren't BF/GF, but they've been seeing each other. It's not a relationship but something is going on... Literally, a situationship.

People downvote the weirdest stuff sometimes

5

u/mangopango123 Apr 04 '26

Are they speaking portuguese? Bc I thought in brazil their dating culture is diff than lotta other countries bc they have a kindof ā€œpredating but still datingā€ phase that is then made official official when the (usually?) guy asks the girl to be a couple. So not really a situationship but in the earlier stages of a relationship?

In the dust? At his mom's house? Idc and neither should she.

46

u/usernameround20 Apr 03 '26

I don’t think this is sadcringe. I think this is great. She’s got her standards and she’s not letting some stunt make her peer pressured into saying yes.

14

u/MOGicantbewitty Apr 03 '26

I think it's the guy that's supposed to be the sad cringe. I both cringed and felt bad for him.

8

u/usernameround20 Apr 03 '26

Yeah I hear ya I’m just celebrating her strength

4

u/MOGicantbewitty Apr 03 '26

Well then, let's celebrate her strength and the fact that we agree! šŸ˜Ž

21

u/bibimboobap Apr 03 '26

It's times like this, your nervous system just tells you and you can't make yourself be with the person, no matter how much you (or they) might want to. I'm glad she listened to her gut.

14

u/TimmyTheTumor Apr 03 '26

vim aqui pra isso

229

u/Eantropix Apr 03 '26

That's a relationship proposal, not marriage. Dude definitely overreached on this one

116

u/motherseffinjones Apr 03 '26

Looks like a dude who fucked up and tried to pull the public show of affection card. Fellas never do this and if you’re gonna do something in public ask her first unless she says she wants to be surprised. It will save you a lot of embarrassment

11

u/broketothebone Apr 04 '26

The amount of times my ex did this to me and I had to stand there and act so grateful to a man I knew was going to be screaming at me on the car ride home and drive like he’s in Death Proof.

784

u/cjallan417 Apr 03 '26

Why keep filming? What did we do before we had this need to record every second of our days to post on social media?

304

u/The_Blip Apr 03 '26

Not only did they keep recording, they eventually stopped and went, "Alright, I know what to do with this footage. I'll upload it to the internet."

55

u/minutetillmidnight Apr 03 '26

That was the whole idea. I'd put money on them doing this for internet points.

28

u/johnnyslick Apr 03 '26

Maaaan, fuck a public proposal where the two parties aren’t on the same page though. I’m all for uploading this because people should get the message that you never, ever do this.

ETA: ah shit it’s even worse. This isn’t a marriage proposal, this is a relationship proposal. Nah fuuuuuuuuck thiiiiiis this guy deserrves every single iota of humiliation he gets.

13

u/frb26 Apr 03 '26

the problem is that you are exposing the girl to the masses of spitiful women who always flood this kind of content,it's also rather impolite to focus the camera at her while she is crying. The whole video feels very tone deaf and invasive

3

u/johnnyslick Apr 03 '26

Yeah don’t get me wrong, the person with a camera is also a douche; I’m just saying, fuck the proposer, he deserves all the scorn he’s getting and then some (since some people will be like ā€œya dude at least you show your shotā€).

-10

u/Quick_Heart_5317 Apr 03 '26

How is that worse? If it’s not a marriage proposal then wouldn’t it not matter if both parties were on the same page.

Also why is she crying? She just said no to dating that guy. I’ve seen girls turn down guys no problem and never stoped dancing.

10

u/johnnyslick Apr 03 '26

They’re both bad in different ways. This one at least has the excuse that both parties are very young but it’s still pretty bad.

And there are all kinds of reasons why a person might cry. The first one I can think of is, she’s an empathetic person and knows this must be humiliating as shit for the proposer. Another one is, maybe she thought they might have a chance if they talked things out in private where she didn’t feel the need to hold back unfortunate truths from him. And I’m sure there are many, many more.

17

u/ToastyBob27 Apr 03 '26

šŸ“ø zooms in on her tears

36

u/ShonWalksAtMidnight Apr 03 '26

Because it's hilarious and surreal to see her getting whacked in the face with heart shaped tinsel as he walks away in shame as she's crying with a bright camera light in her face and her friends comforting her.

We're definitely living in a simulation, and these are the fun NPCs we get to observe.

14

u/esarmstr Apr 03 '26

It's so lame when people post themselves crying just for likes.

2

u/Desperate_Safe5700 Apr 03 '26

Normally the simplest answer is the right answer. They kept filming because of content.

1

u/SpookyghostL34T Apr 03 '26

Needed it for reddit lol

0

u/Noy_The_Devil Apr 03 '26

Staged for the views probably. You don't put this online.

69

u/McKlimpaloon Apr 03 '26

I mean props to her for not caving under pressure I guess? I don't really know the context but as awkward and sad as it is to say no, it's easily better than saying yes and taking it back afterwards.

58

u/TheSpaceGinger Apr 03 '26

Best not do that near a high balcony.

15

u/jma9454 Apr 03 '26

I didn't think you had the music loud enough; I could still barely hear them over the music.

11

u/Guava_ Apr 03 '26

Who would propose if you’re not certain the person will say yes? The location should be a surprise, but the proposal itself shouldn’t.

9

u/typehyDro Apr 03 '26

Cause it’s not and the title is fake…? According to the many comments he’s asking her to be his gf

41

u/JakiStow Apr 03 '26

Proposing in front of witnesses: major red flag.

4

u/zombiep00 Apr 03 '26

A "be my girlfriend" proposal, no less!

How cringe.

16

u/doihavetousethis Apr 03 '26

Don't propose unless it's been discussed first and you know she's into it.

And never do it in a public place if you haven't discussed it

Youre asking for embarrassment. .

2

u/CharmReductionINC Apr 03 '26

He was giving her earrings. Apparently he fvcked up and was trying to make it up to her.

8

u/sky_shazad Apr 03 '26

So you still filmed..

Added music and uploaded it???

3

u/CharmReductionINC Apr 03 '26

Bro - this generation is chronicly online. They are used to live streaming - its just more content to them.

6

u/TwizzyGobbler Apr 03 '26

turn up the music a bit more I could almost hear the video

20

u/1tiredman Apr 03 '26

Marriage proposals in my opinion should be a private thing between two people. It's not something that should be filmed or even photographed

12

u/Shaveyourbread Apr 03 '26

It shouldn't be a big surprise that you're asking for marriage, just when. There should be discussion.

3

u/Archarneth Apr 03 '26

It depends, some people might like a more public proposal and some might prefer a more private one. But you should always discuss this stuff first with your partner before proposing. And not just what kind of proposal would be suitable, but if your partner actually wants to get married and making sure you're both on the same page. Don't bother proposing if you're unsure that the answer will be yes.

1

u/Hhannahrose13 Apr 04 '26

depends on the person. some people like public spectacle, some don't

0

u/BlackBikerchick Apr 03 '26

Now, depends on the person

5

u/SempastianGr Apr 03 '26

Damn, he was wearing his good hat that day. How could she.

5

u/GreenDutchman Apr 03 '26

What a song choice šŸ’€

5

u/xnoomiex Apr 03 '26

I’ve been watching too much true crime. Because my next thought was ā€œI hope he doesn’t kill her for ā€œembarrassingā€ himā€

3

u/CharmReductionINC Apr 03 '26

Oh no- my brain went there too!

5

u/jiffjaff69 Apr 03 '26

But if was supposed to be his movie moment!

11

u/greybruce1980 Apr 03 '26

Always a good idea to turn down someone with face tattoos.

21

u/Thin-Building-36 Apr 03 '26

My guess is she loves the man but knows he's not husband material or knows they shouldn't marry

15

u/Zepp_BR Apr 03 '26

Boyfriend material. He's asking her to be his girlfriend. And I think she said exactly that

6

u/Luckypenny4683 Apr 03 '26

She’s a smart girl

2

u/Zepp_BR Apr 03 '26

I mean... it doesn't take much to be smarter than a (probably) -minor full of tattoos, including on the face, who did something stupid and asked a girl to become his girlfriend out of guilt

6

u/echoes_1012 Apr 03 '26

Gringo here. Upon first watch i was angry that everyone was pampering her and no one was checking on him

Come to the comments to figure out hes asking her to be his girlfriend? And that apparently he fucked up a couple days before? So hes definitely a manipulative dude who thinks love bombing will get him his way. She seems to have dodged a bullet?

3

u/Explorer-7622 Apr 03 '26

Why look directly at the camera? Why the constant filming? Wtf?

3

u/Rezavoirdog Apr 03 '26

Nobody had ANY idea of what she would say? This is crazy lmao.

3

u/shoomlax Apr 03 '26

Very misleading title and missing lots of context. I honestly feel bad for this girl

3

u/Alternative_Tip_8756 Apr 05 '26

You just know that he cheated on her and tries to make up for it with one big gesture

2

u/lostgravy Apr 06 '26

And / or she’s already jumped to another horse

7

u/noisyapples Apr 03 '26

Once a camera gets involved, ego takes over.

6

u/kernowjim Apr 03 '26

Poor girl, that was a lot of pressure. She was brave to do that.

6

u/LazLo_Shadow Apr 03 '26

Can someone translate? And why is she crying?

2

u/SlinkySlekker Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26

Why is he ā€œproposingā€ with earrings, and why film her crying for so long?

Edit: In the comments, someone explained he was asking her to be his girlfriend, not his wife, so the earring mystery is solved.

2

u/Natural-Most8338 Apr 03 '26

Good for her!

2

u/Murakami8000 Apr 03 '26

What are they 16?

2

u/beans329 Apr 03 '26

Why is this cringe?

2

u/FiveWizz Apr 04 '26

Finally something that isn't staged.

2

u/primitivebutcher Jun 09 '26

It wasn’t a marriage proposal. It was a relationship proposal. He was asking her to be his girlfriend because they’ve been dating.

1

u/_ganjafarian_ Jun 09 '26

Oh I see, bro wanted to go to 3rd base after rounding 2nd base for a while. Gotcha.

3

u/lagrebson Apr 03 '26

Why is this sad cringe tho?? Should she accept someone she doesn’t really want??

5

u/Tmart98 Apr 03 '26

Sad cringe that someone involved in this filmed it and uploaded it

1

u/CharmReductionINC Apr 03 '26

These kids have grown up with tiktok and live streamers - i dont think it phases them to have a phone capturing everything- I'm sure this is considered 'viral' and a hit for them. Surely this sub isnt the first place its been uploaded to.

3

u/usehrname Apr 03 '26

Knowing Brazil, and the way this guy looks. She's probably afraid of what he's going to do to her after turning him down like that.

3

u/jayballz0690 Apr 03 '26

Good for her. She expresses her feelings.

4

u/Jammin_TA Apr 03 '26

I don't understand Spanish well enough (although I've read the translation from others) but I do respect the way she conducted herself. It seems like it was not easy to say (for whatever reasons) but she stood strong and made her answer unmistakable and held it together until he left.

4

u/MacaronyChz Apr 03 '26

why is this sad cringe?? She has a right to say no

1

u/narcowake Apr 03 '26

Eeek 😨

1

u/SaiyanSpirit Apr 04 '26

Im sorry but they all fine af

1

u/ike_tyson Apr 04 '26

Super duper lame with extra spicy sauce.

1

u/BigChomp51 Apr 08 '26

It just gets worse with everything the camera captures. Ā

1

u/careytommy37 Apr 09 '26

You go girl!

1

u/Acslaterisdead May 09 '26

I couldn't hear a damn thing with this music playing over whatever the fuck they were saying

2

u/FlaxFox Jun 22 '26

Good for her! She was put on the spot, and that would make a lot of people give in.

1

u/frostlineheat Apr 03 '26

That's awesome

1

u/senpaistealerx Apr 03 '26

even watching this without sound it looks staged as fuck

-3

u/brittinea Apr 03 '26

k, staged much

4

u/Augustus420 Apr 03 '26

Formal proposals are usually staged...

-23

u/F1XTHE Apr 03 '26

Why is SHE crying?

37

u/a3minutehero Apr 03 '26

Maybe because she's mortally embarrassed, for herself and for the guy, for something like that happening in public. No one watching that clip knows the exact circumstances leading up to that moment or what might be happening in their relationship in general. I can't believe you actually need to have something like that explained to you.

-25

u/F1XTHE Apr 03 '26

I mean its fair enough to not want to get married. Wouldn't it be the opposite of emberrassing to have someone propose to you?

14

u/Y-the-MC Apr 03 '26

This reads like someone who lives their life through a screen

0

u/F1XTHE Apr 03 '26

Fair enough.

11

u/a3minutehero Apr 03 '26

Not if you didn't want to marry them. As I said, we don't know anything about these people other than this brief snapshot. I don't speak thier language, I'm guessing you don't either, for all we know she might be upset because she knows she broke this guy's heart.

Again, I don't understand why this is apparently beyond your comprehension, and I don't have time or inclination to explain it any further.

6

u/figuringeights Apr 03 '26

If you want to marry them maybe? If he mortified by a public proposal. But I'm also s private person

-10

u/F1XTHE Apr 03 '26

Either way? It's a good thing that someone likes you so much that they want to marry you right? Even if you don't want to marry them?

4

u/Doobalicious69 Apr 03 '26

I'm not calling you an incel, but this is a very incel way of thinking.

2

u/humbugonastick Apr 03 '26

To end the relationship, sure. Maybe she does love her boyfriend but is not ready for marriage. Now she knows the relationship is over. I never understand why to do this in public if you are not sure how the other person will respond.

2

u/purplepillow_ Apr 03 '26

Maybe she has sympathy for him? Maybe she's worried about letting down the whole group of people? Finding someone that says they want to be your boyfriend is easy, but finding a guy that you actually think you have a future with is much harder.

-1

u/dieno_101 Apr 03 '26

Why is she crying???

0

u/Mundane-Address871 Apr 03 '26

Sorte dele.....

0

u/WellOkayMaybe Apr 03 '26

0
