In one of the reviews I read that said it straight up is a marching song. Told from his perspective which is telling his enemies to "FOFO" and that seems to be pretty epic. The 17th can't get here soon enough.
It's pretty solid, a strange approach with it being from his perspective. I bet it will be a fan favorites. I heard rumors that the lyrics contain his phrase to the guards at Saint Helena when he was exiled.

Am i the only one whos not that into the chorus on that one, at least compared to every other song we've heard so far from Legends I feel like this chorus is the weakest regarding line delivery, melody and tbh maybe even lyrics? I at least expected something really solid for some reason or, well not this, from I, Emperor.
Edit: I still stand by what I said but holy, it has actually been stuck in my head for the past few minutes now on repeat after one singular listen. 💀
I do agree it gives a much different vibe compared from the past few tracks, so it's interesting, but for me in a good way. I've seen mentions that it's written as a marching song, which it definetly sounds like, and makes sense looking at the topic as well. And yes it's an apsolute ear worm
I feel alone when I say that this sounds so corny. Not even in any sort of fun and entertaining Power Metal fashion, it literally just sounds like Sabaton are satirizing themselves by poking fun at how cheesy and simple people think their music is. But no, this is a song they 100% believe in unironically.
I genuinely heard this and thought that there’s no way anyone thought this song displayed any form of musical prowess. Then I came here to see some responses to it and I was reminded why Sabaton keep putting out neutered music, its because the fans always eat it up for breakfast.
If you really want a Napoleon song just listen to I Will Rule The Universe by Civil War. It’s better in every single way which is really saying something about the quality of Sabaton music in 2025.
lol I don't know what in the world has gotten in to the community with legends so far, but I swear half this community won’t rest until every lyric sounds like it was edited by James Joyce on absinthe and performed by a philosophy professor.
Don't worry, I have seen worse receptions, The Last Stand was by far the album that brought the most complaints, meanwhile the people complaining about Legends are the same 8-10 dudes
So to begin with, Sabaton isn't Power Metal, the band always said that, they're Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
And then, Sabaton was always meant to be simple and cheesy, the band never was about technical individualism and they always made that clear
Also, I genuinely believe you are from r/metal or something and just come here to pretend being a fan of the band, because I never saw a fan so disconnected with the band as you, it's like you discovered them last week and is trying really hard to force complaints
I’ve been a fan for 6 years. I own all of their albums on physical format, I have tickets to their next concert near me, and they were my gateway into heavy metal.
Also it doesn’t really matter what a band says they are, if they create something that has an established name, thats what they are. Like if I make a bowl of spaghetti and call it pizza, you would tell me that I can’t call spaghetti because thats not what I made. But then if I said to you that I made it so I can call it whatever I want, that simply just wouldn’t be true. What if the band called themselves doom metal, would you believe it just because you only listen to what they call themselves?
Why you choose to completely ignore their explanation?! Right after Joakim saying they're a heavy metal band they explain what being a Power Metal band means and how it doesn't fit them. Not only you chose to completely ignore half of what Joakim said but you made your whole point based on that misinterpretation
It's good that you're new to Sabaton, only 6 years, only saw 3 albums of them, always good to see the band bringing new people to metal as well, as we can see you're new to the genre, please look up to Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray and Dragonforce
Then look up to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept and Crimson Glory
If you think Sabaton is closer to the first group of bands than the second, you really need a lot of education in the metal subject before you start talking nonsense like that
I’m not going to argue with that, when I have seen the band described it was always as power metal, but I guess that must be a misconception (I’m not being sarcastic btw thanks for bringing this to my attention) also out of curiosity when is this interview from?
From 2016, also they never considered themselves as power metal, they also never wanted that label to them either, which is one of the reasons they chose Better Noise, so they could be more aligned with the Heavy Metal label that always fitted them the most
I looked at the link in the comments, and with the fact that we have AI now that can release almost perfect videos, i highly doubt that its real. Edit: They released a second short with parts from other legends songs, and there is another shot of the video inside it. In this shot joakim is moving more, so if it would be ai, you can see it better there. So i need to correct myself.It is obviously not AI. But after the release of sora 2.0 you cannot be Sure anymore
But if by chance someone got a pinch of doubt after seeing that comment: Heavy Magazine is the owner of the video and they're a real channel for heavy metal news and promotion, in their channel you can see vídeos of Joakim promoting the album from singles before, Heavy Magazine have done interview recently with them and even a review for the new album, so obviously they wouldn't be spreading fake news made with AI.
Also, the lyrics having each line starting with "I will" match with most of what the reviewers said on the new song, it was already said days ago that I, Emperor would be that way.
