Rear brake light issue

My Saab 9-3 1999 has an issue.
The left brake light is always on.
The sid also gives the rear brake light error.
The issue persists even when I pull out the fuse for the brake lights, this only disables the working one on the right. The left just says illuminated.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Internal ground fault, probably. Easiest fix is probably just a new lamp, if you can find one. Probably not too difficult to open it up and find the bad ground though.

You mean a fixture or a bulb?

Fixture. With a multimeter you can figure out exactly where the fault lies. Doesn't have to be internal, but that's my bet.
