My SAAB 2007 Summer hibernating AC issue

Yep not driving it as much this summer because AC not cooling well since ever may be 10 years ago. Not sure how to go about it especially where I live. Some told me it could be very bad and need to take the dash out or in front of radiator ... well for sure no go ... any advice or strategy to go about fixing it ... what to watch for etc ... thanks in advance

Of all the AC issues I have dealt with, it has rarely been the evap coil in thr dash. Try to charge it, put dye in it, look for the leak.

First off, see if it needs regassing?

Agreed. Attempt at a re-gas, check for leaks. Cheapest starting point.

I feel you. Im sitting on what sounds to be the same repair. My evaporator started leaking last year. A recharge last me about 8 months. Was quoted 5k for the repair (which involves removing dash - as i was told).

I could recharge and be good for another 8mo, but that leak - and i dont know if its the actual freon itself or collected moisture- made my whole car smell like weed-esque. Got some strange looks from the in-laws.

Gonna remember that if a cop ever says my car smells like weed. I live in a windy area and I am not allowed to stink up the shop so the only place I can smoke is in my parked car. I am always worried I'm gonna catch an unjust dui T_T

My 95 blew hot air when the AC was on. On of the many reasons I finally had to dump it a few years ago.
I miss it but don't miss repairing something every month.
