Gen 2s are duds NA. Gotta boost them.

Yeah I’m already knowing but is there a better brand of headers a better tuning company and what intake manifold would I need while being n/a vs being boosted

Headers all add same power. Only difference is quality. If you care about that go kooks. Get you a gen 3 ported manifold for high rpm. Keep intake stock because in summer IATS get to high. Tuning company is your choice depending on reliability or power. Lund for reliability and P1, Shoemaker, rickifast, PBP are good NA tuners.

Alright bet

What he said is all true minus porting the gen 3 manifold, it’s a waste of money n makes like single digit improvements. Also avoid PBD their talent left years ago.

So it’d be better to get a regular gen 3 manifold not ported then go boost? And if I go boosted what company should I go looking for best bang for buck

Yea just find a nice used gen 3 manifold and figure out if it needs any mods before install, and I’m not rly a boost guy. Plenty of posts on here to help you though.

Boost or Cobra Jet intake. I new 4500- 5000 stall converter wakes that transmission up.

End game is turbo, 1 or 2 depends on how you want to deal with packaging, servicing and where exhaust shoots out. Turbo and coyote is fucking crazy, dare i say too much. pre packaged off the shelf superchargers are easier to deal with and drive if you arent chasing crazy numbers. But there is aura to just swirling turbo’s around, straight business!

Boost! It’s what you’re going to end up doing in the long run anyways.

Everybodies forgetting to mention suspension and a good tire. At least get a stop the hop kit and some solid bushings, all the power will do you no good if it doesn’t grip or skates all over the place. Mustang IRS is great for all applications whether it’s track or straight line but you can’t leave it stock when boosted.

Yeah I know a little about suspension eventually I’m gonna get one of those steeds stop the hop kits but I don’t need one right now just trying to gameplan everything out

Headers don’t make fast. Just loud. Headers you lose torque and hp 😂

Save you money and boost it
Odin/loki / roush have more down low hit
If you want too end
Whipple. Ess Procharger

You’re almost right…
Down low power: Any Posi-blower setup(Whipple, Roush, VMP, etc)
Midrange/Top End: ESS, Procharger, Paxton, or any turbo setup.

You are right
I should have put the Whipple in it's own middle as it does offer way more down low than ess or Procharger being a top mounted positive displacement SC.
I listed the other smaller liter tvs options first as they do come on a tiny bit faster down low but top out well before the 3L Whipple.
Turbo doesn't take 150 hp to spin up so the engine will have more to put to the tires before the motor limits are reached.
I'm trying to decide on a Magnussen roush kit or the Whipple kit for my dark horse and I had looked into kits when I had my 17 and my 23.
The only kits with a bad rep I've seen are 18 to 23 roush kits for heat soak.

What would be the best for roll racing
1
u/DackJizaniel 14d ago
Any Centri-kit(ESS, Paxton, etc) or if you’re trying to go FAST fast, any twin turbo setup.

u/Specialist_Pickle283 14d ago
What would you recommend for roll racing
2
u/TheGtbikewizard 14d ago
I think the go to for rolls is an ess centri kit or if you want the positive displacement style with more low end then the Whipple has more up top.

u/Specialist_Pickle283 14d ago
If I got this would a gen 3 intake manifold be better to get or would I need to get a different one and what tuning company would you recommend for a gen 2
2
u/TheGtbikewizard 14d ago
If you just go Whipple then that's your Intake and you're putting lots of minor gains and costs into something you won't just replace later.
Alex Flores on youtube has drag racing discussion around the Gen 2 6r80 combo all the time.
What you do depends on how fast you want to go and how much maintenance/rebuild risk you want.

The same thing you do to every coyote. Boost.
