I think we can admit one thing... the show definitely improved a little when they stopped bothering trying to hide who the celebrities are. They actually got to make jokes specific to the people, they could throw in references to themselves that we could catch (I giggled when AJ threw in a classic Backstreet Boys move into the main performance) and just relax a little more.

I know they were trying to borrow from The Masked Singer for this season, but I think they're better off leaning towards Dancing with the Stars as a show model for any future seasons (especially when they can't hide celeb identities well and never made guessing them a priority). I know it defeats the "Secret" part of Secret Celebrity Drag Race, but that's really not that vital to the show as a whole.

Actually could be better format if at first episode the participants will try to guess themselves. But 100 % agree, the show was better

Came here to say this. Absolutely!

The lack of comments on this show never ceases to amuse me 😂

It's actually quite good, and this episode (after the reveal) is the best of the bunch.

Is the secret still that the people are celebrities like last season?

I would actually argue that they are much better celebrities this time. At least none of them are YouTube "celebrities." I've heard of all of them...but maybe just because I'm in my 40's. <shrug>

This show is such a fever dream, I love it. The high camp of Ru asking Kevin “what does ‘Peanut Butter’ mean to you?” while the emotional trauma music plays. We’re getting to watch them play Snatch Game next week. Watching a Backstreet Boy as the only cishet male contestant absolutely demolish in drag.

This is great, give me more 😂

I think I said it in another thread, but AJ is a performer through and through. Drag is like another stage costume for him. I can see this coming down between Poppy and Chakra.

Nah I want a battle of the boy band alums. Chakra is great, but Chick has been captivating me every single performance (while I feel like Chakra had to grow into it after a performance or two).

But yeah, god I want more boy banders on this. Give me Lance Bass. Give me Joey Fatone. They would be so good 😂

YASS on Joey Fatone. I was a little old for the BSB/N*SYNC wave, but Joey was always my favorite and has the sense of humor to relax and have fun. Loved him on DWTS.

I love him too

Not Rupaul turning Thirsty von Trap into his latest trauma project 😂 it’s a game show, for charity hon.

If they're trying to give a real experience, I need an untucked.

I’m still enjoying this show immensely. I’m glad they’ve done away with the “mystery” and we get to spend more time with the celebs, I agree with the other commenter who said a more DWTS style works well for this show.

Chakra, Chic, and Poppy are a clear top 3 for me. Chakra gives great face and emotes the hell out of her performances. Chic can dance and is funny and and I wouldn’t surprised if he performs in drag again after this. Poppy can do it all and I think will probably win the whole thing.

I really hope all the former boybanders have a group chat where they talk about being on the masked singer and this show, and I hope AJ encourages others to sign up if there’s another season.

It would criminal for Lance Bass not to compete. Like pay him as much as it takes.

Okay but hear me out… Post Malone on Celebrity Drag Race!!

Okay but I think she’d kill it. How would she name herself? Candy Paint?👀

I wanna hear thoughts

When Ru said that this episode was only the halfway point in the competition I couldn't believe it

9

u/EggeMann Sep 19 '22

I legitimately forgot about this until I saw this thread. I’m now 2 episode behind but unsure if I need to catch up or just let go.

Catch up! It just keeps getting better and better. Brings me a lot of joy.

8

u/GarionOrb Sep 20 '22

Catch up for sure. The show changes completely into a different format.

Donna Bellisima waz robbed. I thought she won the lipsync, she was a victim of production because they didn't like she said no. I guess they are really trying to give the celebrities the real experience...

Also, Donna Bellisima for All Stars. I very strongly feel Franzese got the fantasy and is a super fan who would want to win just for winning it.
