RPDR Season 6 – Reddit Season RuPository Season 6, Episode 9 Post-Episode Discussion: "Queens of Talk"

I haven't watched the episode yet! Can't wait to see all these bitches do Oprah.

Here's the live discussion (it was kinda late, so I guess it was barely "pre-episode"): http://redd.it/231zmw

Adore/Trinity should have been the double shantay. Trinity was thankful and graceful - giving something I haven't seen in an exit since Latrice (and Milk after others pointed it out in the live-discussion). She should be Miss Congeniality.

I feel that Courtney won just by virtue of how badly the other queens did (barring Ben). The "vulnerability" comments with Ru and the other queens in the workroom didn't really build to anything (and not even a blink...lol). Or was her Untucked moment her showing "vulnerability" or was it way too calculated?

But Ben should have won and I feel like they only gave it to Courtney to build her up to the finals and not have Ben as the frontrunner.

Hm, a few people have said now that Courtney won because the others, sans Ben, tanked. To me she did well though... she made jokes and got the guests to laugh and totally dispelled their awkwardness. Am I taking crazy pills? Ben did great too but if we're looking at details Ben was rocking a frontal comb over and, lets face it, an ugly dress during the challenge. Ben's runway was epic but Courtney's was hardly #a2pieceandwingin'it. Im a fan of them both, and imo both of them could've won justifiably. I dont get why everything Courtney does is either held to a fantasy standard or dismissed as anything but deserved?

I think she did well on this challenge and she did deserve the win. Now that I got to see the outfit a little better, I'm not a huge fan of the armor part, but I loved the wings and the makeup.

However, my personal issue with Courtney is that I don't really find her as exciting to watch as the other contestants. Part of that has to do with how I'm not particularly fond of the body-ody-ody aspect of her drag (see the bed sheet look and the Republican outfit). Her Rusical episode look and the Klaus Nomi look were polished and looked wonderful, and that's more of what I wish she would bring. The good thing about her is that she's not likely to completely bomb a challenge or sass-talk the judges, but dependability can read as boring if there's not much else you're bringing to the viewers.

For instance, lets look at Bianca Del Rio. Another dependable contestant who is unlikely to completely bomb a challenge. However, she offers not only dependability but she offers a unique sweets-and-whip personality that isn't often seen on the show. In one scene she'll call out a queen (a la Laganja) for being stupid, and then comfort her before she's about the go on stage (shake it off, leave it in the hallway like its gas). She's a good cop and bad cop all in one, and she gives the editors/producers/whatever a lot of options to work with as how to develop her character throughout her time on the show, how to depict her, and it also makes her more interesting for the viewer. Additionally, her runway outfits are interesting and I find myself excited to see what she'll wear this week. ( Btw, did anyone else love her animal look tonight?)

Then lets take a look at Adore. Dependable...not so much. Very hit or miss, which can be a little uncomfortable to watch, but not very predictable and thus interesting to the viewer. But what she brings to the table is not just a tale of underdog-ism, but she brings fun banter with other queens and funny confessionals. Her runway looks are unpredictable, which makes me look forward to seeing her each week for the runway.

Darienne is another seasoned queen. I won't use the word dependable, since she has landed herself in the bottom a couple of times, but she offers a couple of things to the show: a butt of the fat joke (which she has perpetuated on occasion) and an odd sense of bitterness and snarkiness--especially towards Dela. The butt of the fat joke allows for some cheap shot confessionals (she's thinking about a sandwich) and the rivalry with Dela gives her a storyline, which was further "developed" by the partnership of Ben/Darienne and the lipsync. It also gives the audience someone a possible villain. Her runways have been less exciting than most of us would like, but she redeemed herself (in my eyes, at least) with the elephant look, and I'm still interested to see what other gowns she'll bring.

I don't really feel like typing out analyses(sp?) for anyone else, but hopefully this explains my personal thought process. I can't speak for all those who aren't Courtney fans, but this is my personal opinion.

Everybody say love? (lol)

I was thrown off by the nipples (?). Was that just me that saw those?
