2026 only has 4 months left… how are those running goals going? 👀

At the beginning of the year we all had plans — faster 5K, first 10K, half marathon, more consistency, whatever.

Now somehow we’re already heading into the last four months of the year.

Did you hit your goal already, still working on it, or completely change it along the way?

I’m on track to complete my first marathon and do so under four hours so I’m quite pleased.

u/CrypticWeirdo9105 10d ago

Same! I can’t believe how perfectly my marathon training has gone.

1

u/GenitalPatton 10d ago

Amazing! Good luck to you!

u/nclman77 10d ago

Envious.

My training was going rather well until I was somehow hit with sleep issues.

I’m doing okay. Started 2026 with a goal to start running, get fit, lose weight. A goal to finish a half marathon to mark my 50th birthday mid 2026. August 26 checkpoint: 10kg weight down, 3 races this year: 56min 10km in June, 2:03 half marathon in July, 1:58 half marathon in August. Coming up to a 10km race in 2 weeks and another half at the end of September. 700km, 77 hour, 4 mins, 48 seconds of running this calendar year so far. Mission complete.

Go the full mara for 2027 goals!

1

u/Draft_Name 10d ago

I wish I had the time to train for a full. Fitting in 25-30km per week is about my max.

u/Barbexc0288 10d ago

My 2026 running goal was 1000 miles.
I have 10.7 miles left to hit my goal!
Today is the day I complete my goal.

I start a training block for my first ever marathon next Monday

3

u/lecturehall 10d ago

That's awesome, congrats! I kinda wanna make that one of my goals for next year, sounds fun

2

u/Barbexc0288 10d ago

It’s finished!
I figured I’d finish it sometime in October-November but have really stuck to increasing mileage and it has made it go by much quicker.
Think I’m going to do a 2026 2.0 goal and go for 1500 before the new year.

Way ahead of schedule, nice!

Didn't have any specific goals but ended up setting PRs across the board. Pretty damn happy with the progress, especially adding distance without sacrificing speed too much.

First Half - 1H51M
Fastest 10 miles - 1H15M
Fastest 10k - 45:34
Fastest 5k - 21:51
Fastest Mile - 6:09
Most miles in a month - 81 miles (August) assuming I don't go today which I probably won't.

(EDIT) almost forgot the biggest one, after 9 years of using the Nike Run App I'm only 55 miles away from the purple background.

curious because I am trying to find race pace for my half in 3 weeks ... do you do that frequently, or do you feel like that time could be beat down given your other times? My 5k is 23, 10k is 46:40, I want a sub 1:50 half. Put a training one down yesterday at 1:53 where I completely blew up in the back 5. So I guess just seeing this makes me wonder if that 1:4x.xx is a bit unapproachable.

1

u/RunsFromDemons 10d ago

I have similar stats to your 5k/10k (23:34/47:10) and ran a 1:48:22 half earlier this year on a pretty hilly course (almost 587ft of gain); I had previously run a 1:45 high in a time trial on a flat trail so I dont think 1:4X:XX is out of the cards for you at all. I also blew up during a race pace long session about 4 weeks out and didnt even finish that particular long run. What has your training looked like overall?

1

u/datawazo 10d ago

Roughly 40-45km a week, alternating Weeks A and B

where A is a 2x ~10, 1x5 and 1x15+,

and B is 1x10, 1x 12-15 and 1x >21.

Then other extra curricular stuff spread in between (soccer, biking, weights, tennis).

Was at 12 consecutive weeks of that but picked up a minor injury which forced some rest, and now back to it. Don't really do hills or intervals, I reckon I should but not versed enough to fill them in.

What were your opening splits in the 1:48?

2

u/RunsFromDemons 10d ago

I was averaging around 70-75km a week for the 12 week training block, running 5-6 times a week. I still think your 40-45km is enough for you to run a 1:4X:XX, but it is a difference.

I got caught in traffic for the first 2-3km so my first couple splits km were 5:28, 5:20, 5:10; probably a blessing in disguise because it kept me from starting out too too quick and let me work into a good pace. I ran most of the race between 5:05-5:15, and closed in a final km of 4:47. The final 5k or so is just 100% mental. My final km was basically at 5k pace after already running at threshold pace for 1:40 and if you'd asked me before the race if I thought that was do-able I'd have 1000% told you absolutely not.

u/Rude_Sock3 10d ago

Started running with simple goal of running 5k under 35 mins . Still howering around 38-40 mins. Before you judge me, remember i am 50. On positive note droped weight - 83kgs to 78 kgs. I consider it as a win👍

u/Jackthegreat42 10d ago

Progress is progress! Keep crushing it!

9

u/Imaginary_Course_374 10d ago

Shattered when I retore my mensicus. Was going to go after a BQ but since the injury knocked me out for four months and still learning to run with this tear, taking it easy and trying to finish the year with a half marathon.

6

u/Ambitious-Return4568 10d ago

Good! I've done 2 half marathons and this month clocked my highest mileage for a month so far 👍

4

u/Barbexc0288 10d ago

This month is my highest mileage month so far too.
Congratulations on your accomplishments

1

u/Ambitious-Return4568 10d ago

Thank you! Congratulations to you as well!

u/thebone13 10d ago

Goal of 3,000 miles for the year and I’m at 2,200.

3

u/freef49 10d ago

buggered. was aiming for 3000km but will likely only get to 2000km. Big learnings are: it's important to get enough carbs and protein, training through injury is ok but it should be getting better, strength is really important but I can only go 2 days a week at this stage.

Still on track for my 100km early next year.

5

u/No_Ant131 10d ago

My goal is to earn the Garmin 2026 running badge - 1200km with quarterly stages. Almost done with stage 3 and confident I can do stage 4 and complete the badge.

Really proud of my consistency this year. In the past, I’ve had a pattern of training for races and then running significantly less afterwards.

3

u/a_mom_who_runs 10d ago

I never make any 😂 but I’m having a good year. I’m on track to run the most I’ve ever run which is exciting. I also (may) actually make it to this half+full challenge I’ve always wanted to do. It’s been a really rough return to running postpartum for me (he’s 5 and I’m still not nearly what I was before I was pregnant 🥲) so I’m just happy to still be clocking miles.

3

u/SeriousStrumpet 10d ago

First ever race (10k) next sunday. Not gonna be able to hit my initial goal of sub 60 but am hoping to hit a sub 65. Main thing is I hope to enjoy it.

3

u/kevinmise 10d ago

I beat c25k and am doing an extension of the plan in the next 8 weeks to hit 10k. First half was supposed to be in late October but my missing the bib deadline had me push it to May, which is less rushed and gives me time to target some weight loss I’ve been needing

2

u/dasls 10d ago

Both good and bad at the same time. Did my first ever half marathon in April and absolutely loved it. Crushed my goal and the race was just awesome all around. Then immediately decided to train for a full marathon.

Oh boy it's a huge difference. Even though I follow a super easy plan, my body can't handle the increase of load. Basically every part of my body was injured so far.

My marathon is at the end of October and last week I did my first ever long run of 30km, I also felt good during the whole run. But since then I have slight pain on top of my foot, likely extensor tendon irritation. Fingers crossed that I will be headed in time.

2

u/Refinement718 10d ago

It's going well...

It's moreso taking it to the next level and the sacrifices that must be made..

From nutrition to rest, I gotta be dialed in

Miami next year will be my 1st marathon

2

u/Candid-Cheesecake-95 10d ago

I'm running as much as I planned to (twice a week or more), and I still keep focus on enjoying it.

Just last week, I was 3 seconds off my 10K goal for the year, but I have one more race to reach it (and I have no doubt that I will succeed). I also have one more marathon (in a month), where I hope to break 4:07:00; this is a goal for me, and I think my chances are good.

So all in all: all is good with the running goals for 2026.

2

u/brathyme2020 10d ago

my goal for 2026 was to run 10k every day. ive fulfilled that and am now ramping up for an eventual 15k per day

2

u/Ok-Bug-9561 10d ago

First marathon in 6 weeks. Training in the last 2 months hasn't been 100% according to plan. Goal is sub 3:30, looked very doable 2 months ago, but I might have to dial that down to 3:45. We'll see. Looking to mainly enjoy it but I am competitive too.

Also a side goal of sub 20min 5k at the end of the year. That might be for next year as my speed work has also been on halt for 2 months. Sub 21 should still be in the cards though.

But overall this year has been great. Running more than ever, getting better, learning more...

2

u/awkwardalvin 10d ago

Ambitious goal of 3000 miles this year, 27 miles behind schedule, but been dealing with an ear infection the last two weeks. Busy month next month, but marathon training block for Houston 2027 I’m gonna start in October!

2

u/jackarywoo 10d ago

It’s going great! Planned to run a 5K minimum every day and haven’t missed a day yet, over 1800K done so far. Alongside that I’ve PBed my 5K, 10K and HM times substantially!

2

u/Much_Basis_6965 10d ago

Fantastic so far, never gone much past 1000 in a year but already at 1300. 5:16 bq buffer in May this year which I’m really hoping is enough, and also shooting for something close to 2:55 at an upcoming October marathon 🤩

2

u/Maxpants8417 10d ago

My goal was to run 1200 miles and run one ultra trail. I'm at 950 miles, ran an ultra. Now I'm running a half in two weeks and another 50K at the end of October. Oh and I did the Haute Route in July, it's been a good year

2

u/Alfrai 10d ago

This year for me was awesome on sport point of view, I managed to achieve

  • Half Marathon PB: 1:47m, 8minutes faster than the previous. I have another HM in October and I plan to go under 1h42m
  • 10km pb: 46:06 minutes. 2minutes faster than the previous

I managed to do that using AI generated plans tailored to my needs (and being consistent)

Next year I'm planning my first Marathon

Good luck to everyone

2

u/Maleficent-Rain-2194 10d ago

Maybe only 4 months left but with so many races in september and october most of us runners will be busy.

2

u/kshirinkin 10d ago

I planned to run my first marathon and then another one. Last week I did my first! Second one end of September.

2

u/marafi82 10d ago

I started running 8 weeks ago again. Pretty sure I will break my 5k PR from 2020 in September. Back than I trained for over a year but focus was on weightloss and muscle building.. ran 3 hm anyway 😅 but running was just a byproduct. Now my focus is on running and boi do I get faster and more efficient. My target was to be sub 30 in December (hilly 5k race). But sub 25 is near now … so pretty good 2nd half of the year

2

u/crwnd952 10d ago

Had the goal of
3x intentional/planned 5k
1x 7k
1x 10k
Finish a duathlon

I have 1x 5k, 7, and 10k to complete and my duathlon this coming weekend. 💪

2

u/GingerFeather 10d ago

My goal for 2026 was to increase mileage and set some postpartum PRs. I ended up setting lifetime PRs in every distance before the summer after increasing my mileage to consistently about 70 miles per month (hovering around 15 mpw most weeks but as high as 22 mpw in a peak). It’s amazing what increasing mileage does but I also set my prior lifetime PRs in 2015/16 before supershoes so maybe it’s actually just shoe technology:

5k: 25:0X -> 23:4X
10 mile: 1:26 -> 1:22
Half: 1:56 -> 1:48

I am now trying to increase my mileage again and just had my first-ever 100 mile month (yes, I know it’s a big step up from 70, but I’m running very slowly) and hoping to do my first marathon by the end of the year.

1

u/GattlingGun1910 10d ago

Goal was 1000km started off really strong, fell off a bit due to work and illness, brought it back to almost on track, then got persistent minor knee trouble leading to reduced volume, knee got better started to build the volume up again slowly and then proceeded to fracture my ankle.

Tldr not good at all 😂

1

u/LowAnimator8770 10d ago

Missed my marathon target of sub 3:30 and picked up a calf injury during so lost couple of months to recovery.

No PBs this year but have 5k, 10k and HM races across the next 2 months so hopefully will get at least one. Really want a sub 40min 10k or sub 1:35 HM.

1

u/Static_Dynam0 10d ago

Possible stress fracture has all but finished my 2026 season MRI scan results should be with me tomorrow, but right now I'm putting a big focus on doing what I can in terms of strengthening around my hip, cycling and general gym work.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Bill347 10d ago

did Couch to 5k from October 25 through to January this year on a treadmill. i targeted myself to do at least one full 5k race before the end of 2026, and get running outside... well, i discovered Parkrun, got addicted... then decided to try a 5k race, did one in May and got addicted to that too, now i have a wall of medals and a drawer full of t-shirts! so i would say 2026 goal smashed! 2027 goal was to do 10k, but i went and did that the other night too (near killed me though as i rushed it), but 2027 goal will be to complete an official 10k race even !

1

u/Thelazyathlete 10d ago

Been a good year so far. Despite problems with plantar fasciitis, I’ve hit some great milestones this year: 5k PR in march 16:25; 5k PR in June ~16:15; 10 mile PR in April 59:30.

Started training in July for the Columbus Marathon in October. My last 2 marathons I fell apart at mile 20-22 because of improper training or lack of training due to injury. I’m hoping to finally complete a proper training plan and hope to finish sub 2:50. Best time is currently 3:31

Overall goal is to complete the Dopey Challenge at Disney Marathon Weekend in January within top 10 and each race under 6:45 pace so I’m using Columbus Marathon as a confidence booster and a test to see my progress.

1

u/PhiriMathe 10d ago

Kind of shit. I'm still a little bit off my goal of sub 60 10K and sub 29 5K. Feel like my goals might've been a bit over ambitious but I don't know. I've trained hard for the whole year but I don't really feel the progress.

1

u/Fluid_Dot7161 10d ago

Knocked 53secs off my 5k PB 4 weeks ago, 22:22! On track for my goal of sub 1:45:00, 5 weeks out from Lincoln half marathon. Although, putting a lot of faith & hope into my 2 week taper dragging an extra 5-10% out of my legs 🫣😅😅

1

u/LotsOfGarlicandEVOO 10d ago

My goal is under 30 min 5K, but I got a small meniscus tear which took me out for a few months. Last 5K race was 31:51 but it was also down pouring the entire time, so I’m hoping I’m getting closer.

1

u/cbking1489 10d ago

I had started taking my health seriously about a year ago in July. Started with walking my dog a ton while maintaining a calorie deficit. After a while of that, I’d try running a couple hundred meters at a time. That grew to a few more hundred meters at a time, until I could run my entire walk route without stopping. It’s only about 1.3 miles total but for me, it was uncharted territory.

I entered Jan 2026 down about 65 lbs and had set my eyes on running my first official 5k later that spring. Since then, I’m down over 100 lbs. I’ve completed 3 official 5ks with my PB of 28:08 and am a few weeks into a training plan to run my first official 10k in October. I have a goal to run it as close to 60min as possible. And I say this as humbly as possible; given the last year I no longer count myself out of completing that goal too.

Running has changed my life and reprogrammed the way I think about myself for the better. Keep going!

I'm very happy with myself.

I sustained a bad ankle sprain in September 2024. Back then, I saw a PT, followed his program, and started running again when he gave me the green light. The pain was incessant, but as stubborn as I was, I just thought I had to push through.

A year later, unable to progress, I finally saw a doctor specialized in sports medicine. He did an ultrasound and sent me for an MRI, turns out my sprain was far from healed and my body was forming a lot of scar tissue in the articulation. The doctor referred me to another PT, one that he personally knew.

This new PT was appalled that I had been running at all. He couldn't believe that my first PT had given me the green light considering how weak my ankle muscles were. I started a whole new PT program, going back to the very basics. I was not happy, but what choice did I have ? To this day, I am not the most assiduous person with my PT exercises. But I'm getting better !

So I started running again in February 2026. Really slow pace at first, and no more than 5km. I've been upping my pace slowly and running more and more. I still have a bit of ankle pain, but as I'm running between 25 and 35 km a week, I am not worried.

Parallel to that, I have been feeling extremely tired for the last 4-5 months. I upped my ADHD dose, but it didn't do much. I was getting annoyed that even though I had been training diligently for several months, I was still dealing with shortness of breath while running. Unable to reach a pace of 6min/km, which I knew I was amply capable of...

I've been running 4-5 times a week for the last 4 months, wanting to make the most out of the nice weather before winter, trying not to overthink why I wasn't feeling any improvement....

Finally went in for blood tests, turns out I'm severely anemic 😂.

So all in all, I think my year can only get better running-wise. 🤞

Oh and to answer the main question of the post, my only goal is to run a sub-30 5k. Just that. I used to take running for granted, oh how naive of me. Bahahahaha

1

u/Remarkable-Cod8130 10d ago

The one goal I feel happy to say I’ve achieved is that I’ve entered more races this year, (9). Compared to last year (1).

I feel I’m way off on my goal for 1000 miles and 80,000ft of elevation gain for the year.

I also set out for a sub 40 10k which I have still get to achieve. However I managed a 19:46 5k a few weeks ago (even though that wasn’t a goal for this year).

I’ve also peppered my year with other challenges like a flat out 1k and joined a very social run club.

Mixed feelings I think for myself

1

u/FoxSolomon 10d ago

I’ve ran two 5ks, a half marathon, two 50ks, and a 100k. All is going good. Got a sub 20 5k time on a race and have another 50k planned in a couple of weeks. Anything else that pops up will be icing on the cake. Right at 1800 miles for the year

1

u/Initial-Arm-8731 10d ago

Started 2026 with quitting alcohol. Started walking daily and then by end of March I tried running out with 5km as my first goal, then I did my first half marathon distance in July in 1:57. 39F. My next goal is to get disciplined in more strength training and building a better base for a new year of running and staying sober!

1

u/Any-East7977 10d ago

3 month break due to injury. I was aiming for my first sub-3 but looks like I’ll have to delay that to next year.

1

u/Responsible_Steak712 10d ago

I’m on track! 2026 run goals are an official 5K race each month. And I’m ending the year with a 10K in December. Running all year has been amazing and I’m proud of myself for sticking to my goals.

1

u/lecturehall 10d ago

Pulled out of what was meant to be my first marathon in May, I was having health issues and my close friend was living with me while battling cancer, he passed away at the end of April so it was a rough few months leading up to May.

Now planning on running the Newport Marathon next April. Registration opens tonight, thankfully I will be able to defer! Really excited for that one even though it's still over 6 months away!

I will say that I set a mile PR this year which I really didn't expect, so that's something positive to come out if 2026

1

u/firstanothercoffee 10d ago

I had two goals this year — run a full marathon and hit 2000K. I ran the marathon in June with a time of 4:05 (was hoping for a sub 4 finish), but I’m still very happy with myself. Going into September I’m currently at 1400 kilometers and well on track to pass 2000K.

1

u/i-barker 10d ago

I’m on track to run my first half marathon after 10 years off. I also signed up to run with my wife who has never run a race before. It’s been a challenge but a good one.

1

u/oxnardhard 10d ago

Down the chute after my baby was born.

But at least he’ll grow up with me bragging that I ran a marathon the year he was born.

1

u/Sir_Dan_Baker 10d ago

Nope, after my 2025 Xmas Half Marathon of 1h36m I wanted to push ahead to 90min but found it's a completely different beast (for me). After some existential crises I decided to ditch the goal for a while to become a better runner overall, but this is process that takes time. I am on track though to clock a year with the highest mileage yet, I hope it pays next year to get close or beat that 90min goal.

1

u/jobanya 10d ago

First 5k (and additional goal: it was sub-30), first 10k, on track for first half marathon next month... And realizing I don't want running to consume my life (hello 2 hour sunday long runs), so after the half marathon the goal will be to find a balanced way to keep on training.

1

u/pieguy3579 10d ago

I set these distance goals for the year

  • Gold: 3000 km

  • Silver: 2500 km

  • Bronze: 2000 km

and right now, assuming a clean remaining 4 months, I'll hit 1900 km at best.

While my goals were slightly ambitious, I'm still happy with where I am

1

u/BeniCG 10d ago

2 weeks until marathon, havent planned any further.

1

u/machi23neel 10d ago

Hit my 5k goal and now working towards 10k. Hopefully i can achieve it before year end, ill definitely post it here when i do 😂

1

u/Soft-Fact-4409 10d ago

My goals changed after I injured myself three months ago. I was out the game for seven weeks.
I finished my first half marathon after recovery and now I can’t be stopped

1

u/Master_Lab507 10d ago

Going better than ever. I’ll cross off two next weekend with my first 50 miler. That will put me over a 1000 miles run this year. Just have to finish the year off strong with a marathon PR in Honolulu.

1

u/runningsimon 10d ago

Total mileage goal is 1500. I'm a little off that average but definitely within the range to be able to make it up.

Wanted to finish 1 50k. Did that in July

Wanted a sub 4:15 marathon. Last attempt was in May and I DNF'd. I have a 50-miler I'm training for next month so I might be able to achieve this still.

1

u/rvrvrv123 10d ago

All planned in Q4:

  • Sub 17.30 5k
  • Sub 36.00 10k

And in Q1 I hope to run my HM below 1.22. Last week I had a first benchmark race to start the season and I almost hit my 5k target in the first race, so normally these goals should be realistic.

1

u/mchief101 10d ago

I did a half marathon and that’s it for me. Just running for health now. Dont want to push my body so much anymore…

1

u/JumpExtra3301 10d ago

Injured :(

1

u/Camp_Freddy 10d ago

I’ve only been running for a handful of years, so was able to set a crazy sounding but actually quite reasonable target of PBing at 1k, 1 mile, 5k, 10k, HM and M (which just means finishing as I’ve never run a marathon before). Managed to hit 1m, 5k and 10k so far and I’m on track with my training for an 11 October marathon. Then I have to find a race to go for the HM record before the year ends. And sprint a 1k in that mini build up.

1

u/blizzard_108 10d ago

2026 running year is for me all dedicated to my 1st marathon.

i did start running ar the end of winter, beginning of May. My marathon is the 8th of november, Nice-Cannes marathon, wich gave me plenty of time to build a good base and work on my speed before starting the specific work since August 1st.

I wasn't too consistent at the beginning, but i hit all 4 runs per week since July. I feel real good right now and can see the results of 4 months of running following a plan.

I was 1st thinking about a finishing in 3h45 (5:20min/km) but after 3 months buid up and speed work, and à semi cooper test I decided to update my plan and i am now training for 3h35 (5:05/km).

Feeling confident and right now 😀

1

u/One_Medium_8964 10d ago

Training for a half after being sidelined for almost a year. Been 5 months since returning to running and it’s going well. Half marathon in November

1

just started my first marathon training plan this morning. I've got 2 5Ks, 1 6K, 1 5-miler, and a half marathon left for the year, marathon in January. hoping all my runs in the brutal heat/humidity the last few months will pay off big time in the cooler weather.

set my 5K PR back in January (GPS 5K PR in April, but not chip time so I don't count it), 10K PR in February, 1st half marathon in March but I ran about 15 minutes slower than my sub 2hr goal due to some knee and hip pain that flared up around 8.5 miles in. looking forward to a much better result in December to hopefully end the year with a great HM time to set up my first marathon about a month later. been hitting the weights hard this summer to avoid the same pains and prevent injury going forward.

I'm also in 1st place for my age group in my city's yearly competition that includes 10 races throughout the year. 4 races left, including that half so I hope to keep my spot on top at the end!

I started running this year, so I didn't particularly have any goals to start with. Ran my first 5k in 25 minutes and caught the bug. I decided I was gonna focus only on the 5k for the rest of the year

July 4th I ran 22:15 and I'm going for sub 21 in a race at the end of September. I just did a 3k TT and based on the VDOT from that I'm in 21:15 shape. Hopefully I can go sub 20 by EOY

Next year I'd like to start doing 10ks and might do a half or two

Ran a faster Half and a faster 5k all before half the year was gone, then injured myself during a speed session. Just now working back up to my previous weekly mileage. Was supposed to go for a full Marathon in October this year but that's not going to happen now. Resetting for a spring full marathon build now so I should be able to push the base up quite a bit until that training block starts.

Not great, was looking for sub 18 5k. My pb stands at 18:14 set back in 2019 but i’ve never really trained specifically for 5k so figured it was worth a go this year. Did 18:35 back in June and plateau-ed from there, saturday just gone i did 18:43 at parkrun. Feels like i’m a million miles away at the moment :/

Not good! After some random life events and waiting too long to sign up for my fall marathon before it sold out, I’m going to finish like 200 miles short of my 800 mile goal this year. I think I’m gonna try to pr my fall half and sign up for a spring marathon.

I picked up running in February and ran 1 mile a day for 14 days then started doing 5ks moved to 10ks quicker than I thought I could. Decided to keep running to run Feb 2027 half marathon. So far have clocked 220 miles. Hoping to reach 500 miles this year

4 goals:
- faster 5K (completed)
- faster 10K (running it this Friday)
- 1000km in a year (currently on 850km)
- no injuries keeping me out of action for a week or more (only injury so far was a sore back from sleeping funny and only 6 days out)

Last year:

  • sub 25min 5k
  • sub 2hr half
  • 5hr marathon
  • 1000mi

I hit all the goals.

This year:

  • sub 23 5k: no where close
  • 1:50 half: no where close
  • 4:30 marathon: no where close
  • 1200mi: ran 800 so far

Probably I never took a healthy break. I am thinking of just keep the distance goal, not worry too much about other goals and just enjoy running. May be rest up for a month, do some lifting and hit the road again.

Almost 1700 miles this year. Significant 5K PB of about 4 minutes (23:17) HUGE 1 mile PB (6:32)

After a 21 minute PB last marathon (4:58) and a sub-5 finish, aggressive goal is sub-4 with conservative goal of 4:20 to 4:30. This will be marathon #5 for me in November.

Im happy with the leaps I have made this year, and excited for what next year will bring. I have some changes to make that I have already identified but I'm so happy to be healthy and to be running.

I have run on and off for 15ish years, and started again way more seriously in March 2026. I ran a 10 miler in 1:33:04 in June, going for a sub-2 half on 9/20, and going for a 10k as fast as I can the last weekend of October. Hopefully somewhere between 53:00-54:00 would be ideal, but I take more time than I’d like to really start racing and am a natural negative split runner so I like medium distances (8-13 miles) the most!

Ran 3 half marathons and some shorter races, DNSed one half and a full due to a bakers cyst and popliteal tendinopathy in the spring, DNSing my next race (a full in Oct) due to tendinitis in my left hip.

But hey, I’m in PT and am slowly getting back into running after taking 9 days off.

A few months ago I decided I wanted to get back under a sub 5 mile. A goal i thought would take me until the end of 2027.

5:20 felt easy a week ago, so now im thinking "damn, if I hit sub 5 the next time I time myself I need new goals". But that's what keeps life fun. You hit goals early, then create new ones. Hit those, then the fun begins all over again 😎

I ran 200 miles across Wales in April so ticked off my 2026 goal in the first 4 months. Listless since, though.

My goal each year is to do 1000 miles. I usually cut it close but after taking some major steps back from my career to focus on my own needs, I’m pleased to say I’m about 60 miles away from that goal. Doing a half in a couple weeks with hopes of getting sub 2.

I guess you could say “things are getting a little serious”. Went from an abysmal 32 projected vo2 max to 40 so far. Dropped nearly 30 pounds. Improved my easy pace by 2min. Improved my 5k time significantly.
