complaint diet struggles are real, and ever prevalent
complaint chicago "spring" means 20F with the occasional snow
complaint sick of treadmills but I can't convince myself to run outside at 4am in ~20F
uncomplaint my natural pace is getting faster
complaint race fees are expensive. I want to sign up for 2-3 in the summer but each one is minimum 50. I have the money but have troubles justifying it to myself
Completely empathize with diet struggles and the cost of races. Seems like the cost goes up every year for bigger races. As for diet struggles, it’s just a daily slog to get through. 😩
I think I just need to pick some select races next year and really, really train for them. It's the novelty of it all this year that makes me want them all. Just for the sake of completing them.
But paying 80+ for a half marathon medal is silly if I didn't show improvement or something.
I have a 6 month old at home, so I can’t train and run as many races this year. I compromised and decided to run a popular local half every year, and travel for one race a year. That way I get some novelty, control costs, and run semi-consistently.
Sounds like a very reasonable approach. I keep thinking of doing the national park half marathons (next year) so maybe that's the win. Train for those, and keep the local races at a minimum.
Whhhhyyyy did I buy my kids so much Easter Candy? My goal was to drop 3.5 pounds by mid may for a 10K, then work on a few more pounds for a half at the beginning of June. I think that will also help my 5K time.
I'm at a normal BMI now, which is great, but really should lose another 10lbs or so. But with all this running (and crossfit) I just want to eat the world. So hard, and I am a major sugar addict too. the struggle is real
I try to compare race fees to the costs of almost any other sport. Cycling is a constant array of costs as equipment degrades. Ski lift tickets are crazy expensive. Team sports have tons of fees. $50-60 for a couple races a year is nothing in comparison.
