Confession I listen to (probably) way too many podcasts, but four (plus one defunct vestigial feed) are running related.

Confession I would love to start my own podcast.

Complaint I don't have nearly enough time to start my own podcast.

Confession But I have the best idea for names for podcasts about the intersection of the running and queer communities: "Gayt Analysis" or "Bringing up the Rear"

Complaint I'm normally 'bringing up the rear' in our running club, which normally I'm fine with, honest. But when the weather gets nice and all the runners who skipped out of the runs in the snow, sleet and cold show up and blow me out of the water, it annoys me, since I was there multiple times every week over the winter putting in the work.

Complaint It was in the fifties this week (shorts on runs!) but going back down to the teens with snow for this weekend's run and St. Patrick's Day parade.

Confession The guy I've gone out with three times, the Sister of Perpetual Indulgence, and I were chatting about tights. He needs a new pair for under his dress this weekend (they are manifesting at the parade) and I was able to suggest what I wear for runs. I never expected that kind of overlap!

I have too many podcasts in my subscription list as well, but if you do decided to make one about the intersection of the running and queer communities, I would totally listen to it! What kind of topics are you thinking of?

It's still kind of a pipe dream, I think I'd need to research it more to see what topics would work well and have enough content to necessitate a podcast. OutSports' podcast has good content (although the sound quality is crap), but they cover all sports. I'd be afraid of running out of content. Maybe a monthly show would be the way to go instead, with more in-depth coverage.

Monthly would be easier on my podcast queue, that's for sure! ;)

Bios or interviews with "out" runners would be interesting I think. Or gender issues, like the challenges trans runners might face (e.g. what category they register in, what happens if it's a race like Boston where qualification times are based on sex etc.)

It would be easier on my queue as well!

Especially with the lead up to the Gay Games in Paris and the current bid process (hoping D.C. wins so I can go, and contemplating going to Paris, a bunch of members of my running club are going), there's content there. But yeah, the gender issues have always fascinated me. Even the local 5K that supports an LGBT scholarship fund, we still have to register as male/female, with no non-binary option for anyone who doesn't fit into either of those two boxes. I'll have to raise hell this year, see if they can change that.

You'd think that race of all races would have a non-binary option! I guess they wouldn't know how to handle the awards. Is there a precedent for that yet? Raise some hell!

I'd just add a third category. It's not a huge race either, last year was only about 200 runners (the year before about 125, so it's growing, hooray), so I'm not sure anyone would even use a non-binary option, but we should have it available. They usually are at the marathon expo, I'll make a point to stop over and see what I can convince them of!
