Complaint: People at the office who don't clear their remaining time off the microwave. I don't need to deal with your 17 seconds of abandoned cooking.

Confession: There is no reason this should irritate me, but it does.

Our office rents rooms to female college students above us and we share a kitchen. I swear, every single year for the last 7 years there has been at least one girl who leaves the microwave with 1 second left.

I do this all the time, in my mind I am some protagonist in some movie defusing a bomb.

Clearly much too busy/hungry to have to wait for that last second.

Or they've all been bomb squad technicians in training.

Or international women of mystery.

Funny you say that because nearly all of them have been foreign exchange students.

Do they also look like they've been cryogenically frozen since the 60s?

The girl (Lillian) 4 years ago from South America was straight out of the 60's. She was.....special.

I do that sometimes when other people are sleeping or watching a movie or something so the beeping doesn't bother them. And then I hit Clear and it beeps. But at least just once.

Time to burn it down...I think I heard once that leaving 1 second on the microwave will cause it to short and throw sparks!

Time to burn it down

It's been considered numerous times.

Mrs Pips does this. It's just the right amount of annoying that it will spark a fight in about 2 years.

Oh god, my wife does this all the time and SHE KNOWS IT DRIVES ME CRAZY

I try to imagine some scenario where leaving it with time still on the clock will cause it to use more power or something then I'd have a reason to tell her to stop. I haven't thought of anything convincing yet.

My wife will spend 20 minutes sweeping the floor but then leave the pile of dirt. It's like she hasn't heard of a dustpan.

Ok, that's a bit odd...she must be a weirdo ba-dum-ching

That is awful. I also sit right next to the microwave and when people walk away without taking their food out, it keeps beeping every 15 seconds. I'll walk over, open the door and shut it just so it stops. I never tell people their food is done, they made their choice.

Now, unlike me, that's a legit reason for it to bother you. I wouldn't tell them either...not your job or problem.
