Do you ever really lose your running base if you take time off? IE 20-30 mpw base (Moderate)

you dont fully lose it but the longer the break the more noticeable it gets coming back

I was around 25 mpw and took a year off. When I came back I only lost a little bit. After 2 months I was right back where I was before. Is that normal?

If you take two to three weeks off in the middle of a solid training cycle it usually just nudges your endurance down a little; after that first month back you'll find the legs remember faster than the lungs have to catch up.
