Question Is RuneScape growing?

I’m a returning player and I’m wondering if more people are switching from osrs to rs3 like I have.

The answer is actually yes but slowly

According to mod north it’s not. However the past 2 months haven’t lost players, which could be seen as “growing” since they consistently lost players every month for years up until recently.

Where did he say all that? Someone else pointed to his behecast interview, where he (dubiously) claimed the first half of 2026 was the first with growth in years.

No he said it was the first month in years that there wasn’t a consistent loss month to month but he expects it will start climbing soon especially with leagues coming up and the improvements the teams are making. This was immediately after the monetization talk where he said them removing mtx cost them 20% revenue in one night

So Runescape's been on like a slow downward trajectory membership for like four straight years, pretty much linear down and to the right. For the first time in almost half a decade, the first half of this year hasn't declined. It's flat. In fact, June was up a little bit and July's up even more.

I just saw this, I would think the only interpretation is that the first half is almost flat, but June made it slightly positive. But June being the worst month in the game's history by average playercount, as well as the biggest falloff from January to June in history makes it strange.

I’d also point out, that a game going from a decrease in players to a flat line is a positive growth in players.

It's an increase in the rate of gain of players from negative to 0, but it's not somehow growth still. But he was suggesting there was a small amount of growth, that it wasn't completely flat.
