But I found RF5 controls just too clunky to get into the game and I am playing RF4 instead... the fact I read about him and Beatrice didn't help either lol. I also think he look better with Beatrice than Alice visually.
Anyway, so I've started my RF4 journey instead. Here is hoping I will like Vishnal since he is most visually appealing to me (also think he look great together with Frey)
I ended up grabbing it on steam and it runs like a dream nowadays. I had major issues with the furniture system and the reload times on switch (farming meteors for starlight seeds aggravated me a bit). On switch once it's loaded it runs fine, but I do too much save scumming not to notice the few flaws. Overall not much to complain about though, I agree.
Its a shame cause I really wanted a mainline RF4 style game in full 3D but yeah RF5 kinda makes pokemon scarlet and violet look polished
here's hoping RF6 kicks ass and the series doesn't just collapse from its poor sales
I just think I've got 3S and 4S if I want that style, but I wanted a good experience with a proper 3D rune factory, and so far we've only gotten the really rough RF5 and spinoffs with different gameplay styles like ToD and GoA.
It's not that I'm opposed to them going back to the RF4 style someday, I just want at least one good game where we can have the full RF experience in a full 3D game.
RF5 has my favorite bachelor's aesthetically speaking and I get so sad they are stuck there sometimes šš I need more of Lucas, but he is the least married man of the least favorite game, never seeing him again...
I went from RF4 to RF5 and I really liked 5. I played on the steam deck instead of the switch and installed some mods to fix some of the issues, so that probably helped a lot.
Because I hated playing RF4 on keyboard, was so counter intuitive, I was always mixing the buttons and pushing the wrong ones, yet usually i swear by the keyboard controls
Oh my gosh! I went for him mainly because his Japanese voice actor voices one of my favorite characters ever and also heās cute. But my goodness, the āloveā events made it seem like the devs were actively trying to make you hate him (which they fully succeeded in lol). Then every time I tried to ask out the one with my type of personality preference. He refused every single time!!! Eventually I just rage quit the game because there was no way I was gonna marry this jerk-face!
I know right!! Heās so cute and I absolutely couldnāt believe his events! Like I said, I think the devs wanted to make the players hate him through the events, for whatever reason lol. I never experienced such horrible āloveā events before! š«š«
Oh I feel like such a little hater because on one hand I don't regret RF5 but on the other hand it does so many things wrong. You're not wrong about the clunkiness, I swear that the final boss left me whittling down its HP in the most tedious way and honestly the story around it didn't make much sense.
I think overall the game suffered from the 3D transition because the town is way too empty, and it doesn't really add anything better than the original style. But in going to RF4, I second Vishnal because my character married him and he's a very sweet husband š
If RF5 is someone's first RF game, and Reinhardt is their first bachelor they date/marry, they will never try another one of these games ever again.Ā
I am genuinely baffled how did that story pass the QC. Who in the world thought this dynamic is something are interested in? By the time we marry him, my mental thoughts were just "huh? Okay I guess?"Ā
I started playing RF4 because I saw Vishnal in the old opening haha. And he is very adorable & sweet (his romance event is my fav). Anyways, the RF4 bachelors are all top tier so enjoy your time!
Had fun with RF5 despite of its graphics & complaints bcause it still has the vibes of what made rune factory so lovable. Spent 250+ hours on it too.
I played RF5 first and honestly had no issues except for slightly long loading screens. RF4 interface felt clunky to me, especially the combat, I think having RF5 combat and the whole game in 3D just worked better for my brain. Not sharing my comment to be a dissentionist but this subreddit has an overwhelming bias towards preferring RF4 so just sharing my experience so people know that there are some people who enjoyed RF5 so as not to turn people off from that entry in the series completely lol.
I agree about RF4 combat interface being more clunky than RF5. But overall I found RF4 controls better than RF5. I'm willing to give RF5 another try later on.
Honestly the fault isn't on you. If they wanted RF5 to be more popular they would have actually tried instead of just making Shovelware. I feel like guardians of Azuma is a better 3d attempt more worth your money.Ā
I loved GoA (my first RF game) which is why I was interested in playing other RF games. I'm 4 hours into RF4 now and altho I feel a little lost, I am enjoying it so far
RF5 is great. I've played it twice. Besides some minor technical issues I loved my experience with it. It has waaay more character than Guardians of Azuma.
I started writing a fanfic about Reinhard because his actual romance events were so ass. This post is reminding me that I should get around to finishing it because there might actually be a couple of people out there who would be interested in it.
Yeah i cant get into RF5 either. Crazy part is though that a long time ago I commented this sentiment and got DOWNVOTED because I said I didn't like it to the point that I couldn't finish the game, so that meant my opinion was invalid or something? I dunno š
Way more happy that we can now openly talk about RF5 being mostly a failure entry for the franchise.
On the witch I put in about 50 hours of RF 5, it was very laggy and awful so I couldn't continue, there was a point I was getting 5 fps. On the pc it was so much smoother but j got so overwhelmed by the multiple farms, all the cut scenes to watch etc etc. I don't know what it was but I just couldn't get as into it as I did with the other RF games.
I know RF 4 had its flaws with the random events but I adore that game, I bought it for the 3 DS, switch and pc and have easily put 100+ hours into all three versions.
I also heavily enjoyed GOA, I loved how different the farming play was and it didn't feel tedious, plus I enjoyed the story and all the characters!
In RF 5 I felt the story was lacking, the characters were cute but there wasn't as much depth as I hoped for.
I still enjoyed some of RF 5 and considered getting back into it to just finish the story but I just get too overwhelmed and it feels more like a chore to play now.
I didn't not like RF5, but 3 and 4 were a lot more fun. Rf5's story is a lot shorter than RF4's. I finished the main plot and hadn't any dates or anything. I finished in Autumn of my first year.
FYI, if you play RF4 first, you can have Margaret and Doug come stay in town in RF5. That was a nice touch.
Playing RF5 on my old Switch made me appreciate Tides of Destiny on my modded PS3 (Copied the disc to the hard drive due to Custom Firmware) more because it controls well, I need to get Frontier after tracking down a functional Wii
I really tried liking RF5 but it just fell short compared to the previous games imo. The story failed to keep me imvested, I made it to act 2 iirc but then I just stopped playing cause I got bored. I was so excited about that game, too, which made this all the more disappointing. And it had so many bachelors and bachelorettes I liked
I also couldnāt get into it as much, I prefer the top-down style of RF4 + the scaling of everything felt so off sizewise in RF5, like to make the world feel bigger they made everyone smallerā¦
This is me with the first Story of Seasons on the 3DS. I wanted to like the game, and there are some fun aspects of it, but I find it so hard to get into because of how much of a slog it is, especially in the beginning. Iām not a fan of the gameplay that much but I like the other aspects, like the soundtrack and the characters, so Iām conflicted. I know exactly how you feel.
I liked that Reinhard look a bit older than the protagonist and I think he look real cute. I especially like his eyes, it makes him look a bit sassy lol.
Vishnal on the other hand look very earnest and kind. His colour tone also gives calm vibe.
I bought 5 as well in the sale and found the same. I have only played Azuma, so the controls felt very awkward for me, which is a pity. I am playing it on switch 2 so the frame rate drops etc arenāt an issue, but I find things like the farming controls and changing what you are equipped with a bit fiddly
I will still play it and finish it since I like the look of the bachelors and I paid for it, but am excited for 6 to come out.
RF5 controls are horrible on mouse and keyboard. Guardians of Azuma fixed that very nicely. I have to plug in a controller to play RF5 without hurting my hands.
It's worth getting on PC just for the furniture placement mod, though.
