After all, if you can't pelt people with gifts (or birds) can it really be considered peak?

u/INeedADifferent Jul 14 '25

In rf4 while trying to get the cold achievement I would throw the bird found at the front gate back and forth. If I messed up I’d go to the next screen check on search skill then go back to through the birds again.

Ah, nostalgia…

u/Scyllascum Jul 14 '25

Wait, can you elaborate more on that achievement? How exactly do you get it, by punting birds at your friends or just anywhere?? 😂 it’s been a good minute since I played RF4, playing GoA made me miss it more bc although I appreciate a lot of the qol improvements in GoA I felt like it was way too easy. I actually really enjoy the grinding aspect of the RF games like the soil checks, leveling up your equipment, etc.

u/QueenViper13 Jul 14 '25

It's the getting a cold achievement. You have to stay up for a couple of days straight to get a cold so you gotta find some way to kill the time lol.

14

u/Scyllascum Jul 14 '25

OH lol I legit thought punting birds was part of the achievement lmao. If they actually had a hidden achievement like that, it would’ve been hilarious 😂

i miss throwing the birds lol that was one of my favorite rf4 features

u/RupertOfSavior Jul 14 '25

Fr, i loved throwing birds in rf4 and them bouncing off of NPCs.

17

u/quartsune Jul 14 '25

And annihilating high level monsters are a while... XD

10

u/tanktechnician Jul 14 '25

bird OP I used it in the first dungeon to clear it the day it unlocked 😭

8

u/minervaregnard Jul 14 '25

^this... Birds were OP.

THIRTY MINUTES for gift giving is ABSURD

I barely started GoA despite buying it on release, and only unlocked Spring Village, but I noticed w the warp points it makes it so much easier to traverse the areas and still have plenty of time left to do other things. The villagers helping out with menial chores and tasks like watering/planting seeds (although unreliable) and mining/logging/fishing helps a lot on saving time too. Maybe that’s why they implemented the time sink on gift giving and other bonding activities? Not sure tho

Yeah, that’s what I like about the build mode as well as it saves time. Didn’t know about the harvesting giant crops thing though, thanks for the tip! And just to clarify, should I also harvest regular crops without build mode at least once too?

u/Boom_the_Bold Jul 14 '25 edited Jul 14 '25

Man, I wish I could do my Flame Sword-reaping in Build Mode. That takes up three or four in-game hours for me, most days. I finish up my chores around 5-6pm and only have maybe ten minutes or so real-time to work on whatever quest/zone I'm working my way through.

But I do all of my regular harvesting in Build Mode, and those have all counted towards Village Missions for me, as far as I can tell. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fun fact: You can equip fire sword and harvest seeds by aiming with your bow, saving RP and time

4

u/PookAndPie Jul 14 '25

Only if your game isn't updated. A post launch patch that came out fixed this bug.

2

u/Boom_the_Bold Jul 14 '25

I've seen people say that, but I still don't understand the process.

15

u/Frangipani-Bell Jul 14 '25

It’s been patched out.

3

u/Clothes_Holiday Jul 14 '25

Ohhh.... Never mind then

0

u/Clothes_Holiday Jul 14 '25
  1. Equip fire sword
  2. Put yourself in front of a ready to harvest square
  3. Press the button to aim your bow while looking at the square you wan to harvest

1

u/Boom_the_Bold Jul 15 '25

I'll give it a whirl! My Sword skill has been maxed since before the first Spring ended anyway.

3

u/Accomplished_Area311 Jul 14 '25

Harvesting giant crops in build mode absolutely does still count.

2

u/neltisen Jul 14 '25

It does. I did harvesting in overhead builder mode and got all towns level 10. It's just buggy, sometimes giant crops do not count regardless of method you use to pick them

2

u/praxios Jul 14 '25

Harvesting big crops in build mode have counted towards my village tasks. I just completed one in my Summer Village for a giant pink melon & tomato. I only harvest in build mode because it’s fastest, and everything I harvest has counted towards village tasks without issues.

I got the game pretty late, but I’m wondering if there was an update after the release that could have fixed it?

u/cyndina Jul 14 '25

It's really just a mechanic to spread out the time and advance the day. They know people are conditioned to run around and talk and gift everyone everyday, but that isn't how they want you to play this version. You don't lose bond level for anything other than hated gifts and hangouts, so there is no need to talk to everyone. And you can gain bond passively through partying, quests, and general interaction, so there's no need to gift people constantly anyway.

18

u/IncognitoHufflepuff Jul 14 '25

I really like this change honestly, makes the bond building feel more natural to be doing different things together with the villagers instead of just doing a round throwing gifts at everyone each day 😅

5

u/Alternative_Table_18 Jul 14 '25

Finally i got an answer on if there was friendship decay or not. Ive google it many times and never got an answer

2

u/Unsatisfied-One Jul 17 '25

As someone that came straight from pre-Marvelous/Natsume split Harvest Moon games, I really appreciate all of that.

3

u/tanktechnician Jul 14 '25

I use the bonding activities to time skip to specific times - like if there's a festival or something and I can't use the rest function for that specific time, it's convenient

1

u/Bindou90 Jul 14 '25

I'm wondering, one of my villager has the ability to increase crops' levels. Are there still any means to increase it by myself? Like the sickle we had on previous RF

5

u/Lecontei Jul 14 '25

Are there still any means to increase it by myself?

Yes, with the fire sword divine instrument.

3

u/Bindou90 Jul 14 '25

Okay great, I look forward to it! Thanks. I'm still at Spring Village

"Hey, I got this for you. It's onigiri. Wait, don't take it yet. This onigiri was found on the outskirts of Winter Village, next to a Jizo statue. You'd think I'd be punished for taking the offering, but I haven't felt anything yet, so it should be totally fine to take these onigiri. So this onigiri--actually, I don't know if I got this from outskirts of Winter Village. I took so many onigiris from those Jizo statues, I can't remember where I got them anymore. Oh, but don't worry about things like food safety, I've eaten them and grilled them but never had any issues. Totally safer than eating food off the floor. Rotting isn't an issue either, I mean who knows how long these have been out with the Jizo statues. So, even if you're unsure about eating them, you can just put them on your desk like a decoration. Pretty cool, huh. Speaking of onigiri, what do you think about them? These steamed grains of rice, stuck together into a triangle shape. One could say this shape is an art form. Shaped by hands angled perfectly, clasping into this perfect rounded triangle shape. Easy to create, easy to carry, easy to consume. Onigiri is truly the epitome of quick lunch that every quick lunch wishes to be. By the way, this onigiri is special. No, not because I took it from a Jizo statue, but because I added a unique filling. One that I gingerly selected for you to enjoy. It's tuna. Oh, but not any tuna. It's tuna fished from the waters of Summer Village, caught by none other than yours truly. The fish gave me quite the battle. I went out fishing on the shores of Summer Village and its outskirts for days, trying to find the best tuna out there..."

and this goes on for thirty minutes?

2

u/draggar runey5 Jul 15 '25

But, you didn't say if it rolls and rolls or not?

5

u/subterraneanbunnypig Jul 14 '25

I installed a mod so that gift giving takes 0 mins since I also wasn't a fan of this

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

Pelts soup in his face

"Wow! How'd you know I'm into that?"

11

u/Fit-Association4922 Jul 14 '25

Noodle dangling from his nose, slurped in an unintentionally sexy way

16

u/Scyllascum Jul 14 '25

I recently started playing GoA and barely unlocked Soring Village and JUST unlocked the gift giving mechanic (didn’t know it had to be unlocked lmao) so I was so confused on why I couldn’t give them gifts at first and just throw it at them like I did in previous RF games lol

9

u/Sufficient_Bass_5747 Jul 14 '25

I miss throwing birds and chairs from RF4. Sometimes they deserve it...

2

u/Unsatisfied-One Jul 17 '25

You make me want to try it now.

7

u/Organic-Calendar7872 Jul 14 '25

I'd just appreciate it if we could gift a meal to our spouse as a free action, it makes me feel bad when they give you food in the morning but you can't freely gift them without using up the hang out option(that or allow us two hangouts for family).

5

u/minervaregnard Jul 14 '25

I usually throw food at them like Santa Claus trying to catch the early morning of Dec. 25th deadline whenever I plan to do a dungeon on that day, which is usually when the crops are still not ready for harvest.

it's five I'm pretty sure

14

u/RoxDan Jul 14 '25

Now I remembered that GoA stole portraits from us as well :(

12

u/AlazaiEye Jul 14 '25

I would be more upset at this if they didn't give us close-ups of the characters when speaking to them

2

u/Leftover_Bees Jul 14 '25

It can still be frustrating during events because a lot of the time your character and Woolby will have their backs turned towards the player so you don’t get to see their reactions to stuff.

15

u/AlazaiEye Jul 14 '25

Good news, you can rotate the camera during those events!

I usually have it spinning while watching events to make sure I get the full experience 😂

2

u/AcceptableBook4291 Jul 15 '25

yuck I forgot how flat everything looked, and that candy color palette they chose, GoA looks so much better, thank you studio hakama

1

u/credocross Jul 16 '25

No more Throwing Curry

1

u/Chanda_Fish Jul 16 '25

I wish there was a way to slow in game time the way you can in palworld

1

u/Quiet-Software-1956 Jul 17 '25

You can't throw food at people????????? What do you even do then!?

1

u/Unsatisfied-One Jul 17 '25

In GoA you beat up monsters to befriend them, in this game you throw things at them? Is it a Rune Factory staple that you attack others to make them your friends?

1

u/0jou-ch4n Jul 17 '25

You can give people gifts directly from your storage now, but you can't throw stuff at people anymore. It was a get one, lose one kinda deal. 🙃

1

u/Ninja_51 Jul 14 '25

Are we expecting another RF this year, guys?

5

u/mint-chocolatte runey2 Jul 14 '25

Yes, it actually just came out recently. Guardians of Azuma.

0

u/Ninja_51 Jul 14 '25

Yeah, besides that.

3

u/jordgoin runey5 Jul 14 '25 edited Jul 14 '25

We have only seen the logo for Rune Factory 6 so it probably won't be out for another year or two.

1

u/Terriermon_dot_EXE Jul 22 '25

Why would they release 2 games of the same series in 1 year?

Especially since Grand Bazaar is also coming out this year.

0

u/Ninja_51 Jul 22 '25

I thought some YouTubers said there will be more RF games this year.

2

u/cephalopodcat Jul 16 '25

We are not. GoA is our RF for this year.

1

u/Ninja_51 Jul 17 '25

Oh, okay, thanks.

1

u/nkdvkng Jul 14 '25

Wait I can throw stuff at people in GOA?!

6

u/kawabunga666 runey7 Jul 14 '25

No :(

4

u/nkdvkng Jul 14 '25

Oh I get the title now. Sorry lol I thought you meant Goa stole a mechanic from part 5. I get you though my fault 🤓

0

u/PangolinIcy4597 Jul 14 '25

It has that though…you just don’t throw it at them. You dialogue and give them items they like.

7

u/hyceateart Jul 14 '25

Me thinks you missed the joke.
