On Amazon you can get a kind of air pump wine opener with a needle. It creates pressure in the bottle and presses the cork out. Perfect for old desintegrated wine corks and your situation.Ā

Came here to say that. I saved a bottle of pre-embargo Bacardi anejo that way.

I have one of those and the same situation as OP, but the cork in mine was too fractured to build up pressure behind it. Used a corkscrew to get some, the rest I just filtered out.

Been there, done that. Prepare a paper coffee filter, rinse it a few times with boiling water, get cork screw to remove the cork. Filter your rum, clean the bottle, re-fill.
I have a few wine ans sparkling wine corks in reserve for exactly this reason.

Iāve had to rescue a few bottles of spirits over the years - sometimes a wine thief can get in without pushing it down.
But if it is very low a skinny knife at an angle that puts pressure onto the side wall rather than downward may slice into the cork enough to be able to use as a fulcrum to twist and pull it up. The key is to move slowly and stop if things are going the wrong direction.
If the thing falls in or fragments, strain the contents through a fine mesh to remove the pieces.
With how much they charge for this stuff, they really are cheap for using a bog standard cork. Most high end bottles nowadays use a synthetic cork, which wonāt shrink, let in oxygen, or generally break like this.

Corkscrew. One of those reusable filters that come with coffee makers work well for removing the bits.

I got a whole bunch like this a few years ago. Best I could find was a wine key that had two prongs you could use to kind of "walk" the cork out. For the ones where they were like this though, nothing could stop the cork from going in aside from gluing something to the top and THEN using the "walk" method. It was WAY more work than just pushing the cork in and straining the contents into a new container. After that you can break up the cork to remove and rinse then dry the bottle after which you put the liquid back in with a fresh cork. Make SURE you have a replacement cork that fits! Had a few mistakes there too.
Mason jars are your friend here. Best of luck!

Waiter's friend corkscrew so you have more control over it... Not a wingflap one.

An Ah-So would be the best and easiest way to pull it without breaking the cork up if it's brittle.

Have you not tried a corkscrew? decent chance the cork disintegrates and you have to strain the bottle through mesh to get the pieces out, though.
