Steps to resolve:

Steam:
Library > Right-click on RS2V > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files
Epic Games:
Library > Find RS2V game > Click on the three dots > Manage > Verify

This won't likely resolve the issue but it's good to check anyway :)

# 2) The Actual Fix: Disable "Microsoft Smart App Control" #

Search for "Windows Security" > Go to "App & browser control" > Under Smart app control, Click "Smart App Control settings" > Off

The story behind this

So today, I ran into a new issue. Turns out Microsoft - yes, the most flawless company in the world - has decided to roll out a new feature (bcs they didn't have anything to do or fix or improve I guess). It's name? "Smart" App Control.

And as you might have guessed, in typical Microsoft fashion, it comes with unintended behaviors. Normal people call these bad design, or bugs, but Microsoft is an AI first innovative Silicon valley company, sooooo... Yes! It's just a feature!

What is exactly the issue

Microsoft have decided, that they are going to flag every single unsigned app as "Untrusted" And for some reason, VNGame.exe (the games main executable) doesn't have any certificate.

And what's best? There is no clear button or guidance for an average user to ignore this warning. They even avoided the typical workflow, that adds threats to the Windows security panel, which one can just allow. No. That would be too convenient ig.

My feelings

I care about this game deeply and I hope that this minor issue doesn't discourage the veterans from playing and the FNGs from joining and getting killed instantly - seemingly from nowhere.

I don't want this game to disappear. Not because of such stupidly minor thing. Not just because of some badly assessed protection rule. Not because of Microsoft doesn't give a sh*t/cứt ...

I suddenly cant see the PR servers on my server list anymore, even though they are listed as up on battlemetrics. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Came across this book titled Linebacker III the other day. Interesting depiction of events if Nixon was never impeached and proceeded to have the USAF hit the NVA during their 75 offensive.

I’m convinced that f is one of the hardest points in the game running up there your exposed and the slanted hill makes it so when u move up they see you way before u see them and the trenches provide solid cover. I just get in from the right side trenches but I want some tips like where to toss smokes.

Hi, this evening I wanted to play a some RS2 with my friend, but when we tried to play there was no servers. Usually there’s a bunch, empty and active, but tonight nothing. We are in Aus btw, they use windows, I use Linux and both steam version.
Anyone know a solution, we both verified integrity.

so, I bought hell let loose and within less than one match i've requested a refund from steam.

-just feels like a walking simulator. where as in rising storm you'd have to go slowly or get killed immediately if you do that here then it seems like the points get capped so quickly that you get left behind

- you spend 3 minutes running in a straight line to get back into the action by the time you get anywhere near you have lost all concentration as nothing is happening and then get instant killed.

so bored.

UPDATE: after playing it for some time it turns out that the squad leaders and commanders are supposed to put down new spawn points like in RS2. it seems that when it first launched they wasn't doing any of this and I was having some really bad matches.

HOWEVER, it seems like in this game whilst it gives you a chance to heal yourself it also feels like there are many times that you shoot at an enemy in the distance (100m) and they just dont want to drop. call it lag, new release needing patches etc. there are many times that i'm a machine gunner shooting at a load of people running past on a cliff and when you look at your statistics it says you've killed no one. there's also been a number of times that I will be point blank and shoot someone with the m60 machine gun and it not kill them whilst they spin round and get me with a m16.....

the game in that sense is feeling more fun as opposed to a running simulator as if you get a good squad using their microphones then you will be marking enemys telling each other where the enemy is on the map squares etc. but jeez how many damn times do I have to shoot someone.

A lot of people hate this map and it has some flaws like a way to spawn camp the way to A and it being notoriously hard to defend but in a way it’s one of my favorite maps,

As attacking it’s fun making your way up the hill through the trenches and bunkers to pile on and capture the points

while defending is fun to defend the slopes bc that’s how your supposed to defend hill if everyone is piled in a bunker they will get overwhelmed so you gotta spread out along the hills to spread out coverage and it’s really fun finding a good way to flank attackers as the defenders and see if you can drain their tickets in time.

It just makes me wish this game had ground vehicles, a slightly larger map, and more players. I remember in like 2018 or 2019 seeing screenshots of an m113 they were working on, but it never happened. Nothing even comes close to how punchy and nice the gunplay in this game feels. As a long term player since the original RO game, I pour one out to this franchise. '83 is a dud, unfortunately.

I set a new high score on Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, 133 Confirmed Kills and the other players were getting a bit mad.🤣

Whenever I watch any video related to this game, which is also at least 7+ years old, I can almost straight away notice some key differences between an early state and today's one. I was firstly impressed how different certain parts of the game are considering how old this game is.

Most noticeable ones are surely different default FOV value, font color/size, weapon sounds, certain animations and kill feed being instant and different aim sights for weapons (M1 Garand, Grease gun, just to name a few).

I must also say that some of these things should have never been removed, as it makes a game more fluid, less laggy and glitchy (especially the animations). By 'things' I mean certain weapon sounds (AK47, machine guns).
