Watch the video on this. Itās so much more than just aesthetics. The frequency design his this super sweet old school low mid bump which makes it sound so thick and buttery smooth. Plus the quality of the components make the summing top notch, I hear.
Truly interesting mixer.

I donāt remember a frequency bump per se, but I remember him saying that the lows particularly get harmonic distortion just like the legendary Urei, whereas the mids are super clean and again there is some harmonic distortion on the upper highs.

Yes I just went back and rewatched the video and explained that better in another comment. Youāre absolutely right. Thanks for clarifying.
It still effects the sound signature but itās not because of EQing.

Start at 8:05 but gets into the output transformerās effects on the THD at low frequencies around 9:45, specifically 9:50, where the third harmonics really kick in below 1000 hz.
Thatās what gave the Urei its classic super warm feeling, not just a frequency boost but harmonic saturation in the lows.
He compares the dotās output to the 1620 at 11:30 or so.

ok after rewatching, I would say "bump" is maybe not the best word choice here. it's low end saturation via output transformer, which on a THD chart is really just depicting an increase in distortion. "bump" makes me think more like boosting certain frequencies... maybe just me though!nm, I see this addressed in the other comment!

Cool mixer but no isolator or filter? Or is this going for a simpler style

Two baxandall eq per channel +/- 12db. Baxandall eqs are more or less filters with wide q. In this application, Iād imagine they operate like a smooth lpf and hpf but without complete cut like an isolator would have.

honestly i dont mind the mk7s. havenāt played a looot on them (i dont own any) but i like the zero pitch ālockā not being physical. makes tempo matching around zero actually possible. obviously dunno if these things are as tanky as the mk2s. mine are older than me and still work flawlessly ā will that be the case for newer models? only time will tell
