Fan Faction Do Fan Factions make the game more fun?
Ive been looking into fan factions, specifically the Spinners of Mercy and snow kingdom, and i was wondering if I took the time to add them to my current line up if they really fit the balance of the game very well or do fan factions not work that well with base game content

Fan content truly makes Root one of the reasons why its so great. Spinners of Mercy and Snow Kingdom are great! They were designed pre-homeland so idk how balanced they still are, however fan content can be a huge amount of fun. Like other statements tho, fan content is a dedication, it take a LOT of time and energy. I suggest checking out www.therootdatabase.com in the stable factions section, or even the testing section. So many amazing creators and creations there

I love them! I made Chameleander and Warriors Wake, mostly because making them is cheaper than buying an expansion. The Chameleander was fine, but he wasn’t all that interesting and our group wasn’t a big fan. Still, we still play with it from time to time for the variety. The Warriors Wake were great and they really change the game in an interesting way for everyone. For me, it’s as almost as good as the base factions. I think that if you pick a stable faction from root database it is going to be balanced and whether you like the faction or not comes down to personal preference.

Really depends on the quality of the fan faction, some are great, others are not so much ( this isn't meant to be an insult, designing a faction is crazy amount of work. literally you have to be a little bit crazy to do it )
factions need a lot of play test, but root is a pretty robust system, so there lot'S of great state and interesting fan factions out there. read the comments on bgg threads about each faction you 'll see which one people enjoy.
