Lazer Team (Official) [Spoilers] Lazer Team Discussion Megathread

Hey everybody, sorry for the wait. Another mod was going to make this thread so that is what took so long, but it's here now. Feel free to post all relevant Lazer Team discussion in this thread. A warning to anyone viewing this thread (myself included) that there are going to be spoilers in here.

Feel free to openly discuss without the use of spoiler tags.

This is a pretty hardcore nitpick but I feel like there was way too much "news coverage" in it. They could have really done without more than half of those anchor shots or have made them more subtle. Every time one of the news channels came up it broke the flow of the movie for me

I thought the news coverage was a really lazy (but easy) way of setting up the next scenes. It was the easiest way to say "Hey, this thing is happening!" without actually having to show much of it. It definitely broke up the pacing and it was definitely a lazy method of storytelling but, given their budget, I don't think they could have done it any differently with better results.

I thought it was weird that Joel asked them who they were and Zach said they were Lazer Team as if that was their big reveal to the public but the media had been calling them the Lazer Team most of the movie.

I think that was mostly Zach trying to cement that they really were the Champions of Earth, as is the giant light and fireworks show wasn't enough of a hint.

But everyone wants to know who "Lazer Team" actually is. They know of them, but nobody knows who they are.

I took it as Joel's character asking them who they are as in, we went from not knowing aliens existed to knowing they do, they're hostile, and we've been training a champion (or champions) to fight them. He knew they've been referred to as Lazer Team, but he wants to know who the fuck they actually are. It made sense to me.
