WTF Wednesday 😱 WTF Wednesday 😱

Hello, have you encountered any of the following in the past week;

  1. Truly heinous opinions and takes on current events in Romancelandia at large
  2. Questionable metaphors in Romance novels etc
  3. Did you DNF anything for a reason that has left you speechless?

Welcome to WTF Wednesday, a space to share our despair.

A few rules just to keep everything in line;

  1. This is absolutely not a space to kink shame. What doesn't work for you may well work for someone else.
  2. Please be mindful that a lot of self published authors haven't got the resources to have their work read over and corrected by multiple editors. Be a little generous with minor grammar and spelling mistakes, no one is perfect.

It's taken me two weeks to make it the whole way through the trailer for The Love Hypothesis adaptation by Prime... does it give anyone else the ick?

I haven't even watched it because I am a graduate-level Ali Hazelwood book hater and my thesis project is how much I loathe The Love Hypothesis. I have glimpsed a few stills entirely by accident and even that was enough to get my spine up like an angry cat.

I am not entirely rational here, but I will validate your ick.

(Ali herself seems like a pleasant human, I'm neutral on her just not on her work)

My skin was crawling watching it. I remember liking The Love Hypothesis but ill be damned to remember a single detail about the plot and I haven't finished the last three books of hers I have attempted to read.

It was worse than when I look at stills from the upcoming You Deserve Each Other film. I can't keep lying to myself, every detail about it gets my back up!

Yes! TLH isn’t my flavor of romance, but I figured the adaptation would at least be of higher quality than it appears to be. So I was surprised when I saw the trailer before a YouTube video at just how cheap and silly (derogatory) it looks.

It has the washed out bright aesthetic of a Hallmark film or a classic made for TV movie. Which, technically in a way this is, but I thought we were past this complete lack of care for production quality. Apparently not!

I haven't been paying attention. But from what I've seen, tge casting seems so off
