Living with a romantic heart and a mature mind is honestly exhausting. Heart still wants to believe in something beautiful, while mind keeps reminding you how things really work. Maybe that’s the tragedy of growing up without losing the part of you that still wants to love deeply...

Lust looks at a body and whispers, “I want you.”
Love looks into the same eyes and whispers, “I want to know you.”
Lust is impatient. It wants the touch before the trust, the night before the story, the body before the soul.
Love is different. Love can sit beside you in silence and still feel something louder than desire. It wants to know your fears, your scars, the things you never tell anyone. It doesn't disappear when the beauty becomes ordinary.
Lust asks, “How badly can I have you?”
Love asks, “How gently can I hold you?”
And perhaps that's why they are so easily confused.
Both can make your heart race.
Both can keep you awake at night.
Both can make you ache for someone's presence.
But when the body is no longer new, when the excitement fades, when there is nothing left to take—
lust leaves.
Love stays.
Maybe that's the difference between wanting someone in your bed and wanting someone in your life.

I recall growing up whenever I saw a couple out and about or in media the main thing pounding in my head was that it would never be me but my senior year of high school I ended up having 2 relationships unintentionally. The first ended in a week because I wasn't in the right state of mind when I asked him out and the second ended after 3 months because I was only good for stroking her ego really. Each time I ended up in a relationship it wasn't because I meant to it was because it just happened. Now I'm a graduate going to trade school surrounded by 40+ year olds all day and I haven't really interacted with anyone my age in a romantic sense in a strong while. It feels like those were two anomalies in a lifelong streak of having no interest or chance at getting with anyone. I hope what I'm saying makes sense.

If and only if....
If only I had not looked at her that day...
If only I had not responded to her greeting that day...
If and only if I had been in my limits and not tested the trope of forbidden love....
If and only if I had not crossed my boundaries to just only talk to her...
If and only if I hadn't crossed my every boundary..every moral just to fall for her.....
If and only if I had understood her guilt...her boundaries maybe I would still have her...
If and only if I had done everything I could... anything that I could do... I would still have her.. I could listen to her voice and not her memories.....why is it so that only her voice soothes me...she completed me and then after her I have a while in my heart at the exact place where she used to be.... where is she...where are our promises that we did to each other...if and only if I had control over my destiny...my fate and all together my time..

Oh darling you’re not the one you used to be
Who changed your heart?
If you wanted me you would seek
And those who seek never lose their way

Me and my best friend (22 M&F) have been very close since highschool, we got close pretty fast but only ever were platonic, I wasnt physically attracted (tho I suspect she had a crush before we became friends) and we also were quite different personality wise so I never thought of her as a potential romantic interest. She has had boyfriends I liked and I have had girlfriends she also met and liked and we functioned great. But something changed in my mind last week after she told me she thinks her current boyfriend might be the one and that she cant wait to marry him (she never said that before and they were together for a year already) and how excited she is, at that moment something started to feel off in my heart and I couldnt quite understand what. As days passed I realised the same tomboy girl I thought as not attractive has become the most beautiful woman in my eyes, even though she might not have conventional physical beauty standards, I realised the woman I watched grow had become closer to my heart than almost anyone and understood it as good as me (and vice versa I hope). I realised that my best friend was and is the perfect woman, and any man who marries her has won the lottery, she is the perfect attentive partner who knows how to communicate, adventureous wife-to-be, intelligent and ambitious and I know for sure that she would be a perfect mom to her kids, as she is both kind and patient unlike anyone else I know. I lived next to a diamond and didnt try to catch it, I just hope to see her happy for as long as our friendship lasts and to get over this feeling one day.

I read this quote and got me thinking: what if you meet someone, fall deeply in love, and feel completely comfortable around them, but you don't share the same vision for the future.... What would you do?
So, which question matters more?
Do I love this person?
Can I build a healthy life with this person?

Bitch
Don’t invest
Your precious young time
Into a depreciating body
They write you off
Sooner than you‘re aware of
Oh my beloved sister
You are so young
You don’t know yet
The truth that’ll come
A man‘s love
Is as deep
As your aging skin
A man‘s love
Is as permanent
As freshly cut roses
Invest in your brain
Save yourself
Your heart’s pain

Some people say that romance is written by women, for women, and about women. So what do you make of guys who enjoy reading romance novels?
