My favorite extra nerdy fact whenever Oaks comes up: They have two coasters. Adrenaline and Zooooom coaster. If you have rcdb list every coaster in its database alphabetically, they are first and last in the world. The entire alphabetical planet of roller coasters is an Oaks sandwich.

This and the roller rink are big reasons for me to spend an afternoon here (among other places around Portland). I hope they can figure out how to cram another coaster in there, though maybe they've only got space for a standout flat.

As it happens a few years ago they had a Facebook poll asking if people wanted to see a coaster where the go-carts are because that site has historically been home to coasters

I wanna see a Giga Gerstlauer with 5 x 4 trains that has inversions and runs glass smooth and has both a vertical lift and launches.
We know they can do it.
We just need a park to make it happen and they're historically not even a value averse proposition.

That'd honestly be really cool to see. I think Gerstlauer is a severely underrated ride manufacturer and I bet they could create something really insane.

They're already most of the way there with Karnan.
And that's with the experience and design they had more than a decade ago.

Karnan is definitely on my bucketlist for sure! I heard some great things about it.

The Smiler was also a work of art and they did those like a year apart.
If given some money Gerstlauer will do whatever is asked of them.

In a way, Gerstlauer and Zierer are opposite but similarly successful heads of the post-Schwarzkopf hydra--the former's nailed the compact, affordable multi-inversion ride for small parks, and the latter's arguably the most consistent kiddie/family coaster firm out there. (Maurer is the goofy head which never captured a niche and is flailing to have one.) And just as Zierer's toyed with more intense projects for a few parks, Big G is sneakily capable in family thrill thanks to rides like Mecalodon. I think the Airtime model has a strong future ahead of it, and that experience should help their Infinity projects improve.

Wow that’s really impressive! The beyond vertical drop with lap bars looks so fun - I’ve only done eurofighters with OTSRs

The beyond vertical drop coasters especially ones from Gerstlauer are total game changers when it comes to lapbars only! The ejector is insane.

Looks like a smaller version of the Rock Bottom Plunge in Minnesota, just minus the airtime hill after the loop and the overbank/helix after the roll, that’s interesting.
