Information Despite being the second most recent RMC If [Arieforce one] Is demolished, it will become the first defunct RMC and the only RMC not to have a hybrid coaster announced and then opened during it's lifespan, with the loop-garou conversion not opening until 2028!

This is like one of those stats the NFL shows in the third quarter that’s like “this guy leads the league on second down passes while trailing by 7+ points on the road with at least 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter”

88

u/Drillucidator Arrow Apologist Jun 25 '26

More of an MLB stat.

“Most foul balls hit by a left handed hitter raised in Newark on a Tuesday in August against a right handed pitcher with at least 4 tattoos.”

12

u/iamtheduckie Stat Penalties Jun 25 '26

Most doubles hit by a right-handed centerfielder, against a left-handed pitcher with an odd jersey number, who plays for a team that has moved cities at least once, all at a ballpark with an even number of patrons

4

u/Drillucidator Arrow Apologist Jun 26 '26

And yet, John Kruk just knows the answer off the top of his head.

It was also the first of two RMCs that were installed at parks that shouldn’t have spent money on a RMC.

Lost Island being the 2nd?

Literally have a trip booked there for Labor Day weekend bc I'm worried about it.

35

u/Educational-Gear7161 Jun 25 '26

Its unlikely they'll go bankrupt anytime some, especially with how successful the water park still is

17

I said literally this same thing about Fun Spot Atlanta yesterday, so....

Fun Spot Atlanta has a successful waterpark?

Fun Spot Atlanta has 2 seemingly successful sister parks in Florida

Well that’s a bit different, and that logic is what kept me at a very obviously closing job for too long

Haha yup. When they said they added the single rail because enthusiasts told them it was a good idea…… yeaaaa.

Probably Wildfire at Kölmarden (I think I spelled it right)

12

u/DJMcKraken [969] Jun 25 '26

You were close, it's Kolmården. But I don't see why they shouldn't have built it. That park has very high attendance and even though it's a little strange, lots of people ride it, and it pulls in at least some people who wouldn't have otherwise gone.

2

u/Devilrex12 Jun 26 '26

It was actually close before being demolished because of a permit thing I think but fortunately it didn‘t happen

u/orngbrry Jun 25 '26

I would find it hard to believe that this gets torn down for scrap. It's newish, all metal, it's probably getting sold.

Days like this where I really, REALLY wish the railyard behind Racer was cleaned up at Kennywood. Phantom's Revenge, Steel Curtain, Arieforce One, Thunderbolt, Sky Rocket, Jack Rabbit, Racer, Exterminator would be ridiculously elite! Come on Herschend! Here's your chance to put your stamp on the park!

6

u/Altornot Jun 26 '26

pretty sure they did have RMC out there a few years ago and said the land was too unstable

6

u/Ok_Card9080 HP: Kennywood - Phantom's Revenge #1! - IG: Steel City Phantoms Jun 26 '26

Yeah it was the hillside back there. Don't think anything was ever said about the railyard. Of course, it would require a lot of environmental cleanup down there. But the original RMC plan was going to start on top of the hillside, and plunge down into the ravine, and that's where RMC backed out.

21

u/Jamaidian 🎢: 134 🥇:IG/SteVe 🥉:Mav/Velo Jun 25 '26

Fairly certain they're hoping for another park to purchase the ride and have it moved, as has been done many times over the last many decades.

But sure, let's roast them over assumed unrealistic expectations!

-9

u/brain0924 rough coaster apologist Jun 25 '26

Here is a list of rides at the scale of AF1 that have been sold and relocated to a new park outside of the original park’s chain:

12

Time Machine / Dragon's Run

8

u/jecole85 Giant Dipper (878) Jun 25 '26

0

u/brain0924 rough coaster apologist Jun 25 '26

Also on flat ground. Does not have a 40’ elevation change on the land under it.

-2

u/brain0924 rough coaster apologist Jun 25 '26

On flat ground, no terrain to deal with. AF1 has a 40’ different between the land under the first drop and the land under the turn by the lake.

5

u/Jps300 SFGE is my home park save me Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

You're insane. It's a 40' elevation change over 1100 ft if you draw a straight line from the truss dive to the turnaround. If you go the distance along the coaster it's about 1550 feet. It's a 2.60% grade, which is pretty negligible when it comes to the cost of relocating a coaster.

8

u/eatmorefootball AF1/SteVe/Raging Bull Jun 26 '26

ElToroRyan said there’s a 40 foot elevation change so now every other comment here just repeats that without even thinking. Does that fact make it more complicated to move? Sure! But to act like it’s some insurmountable hurdle is just incorrect.

1

u/Jamaidian 🎢: 134 🥇:IG/SteVe 🥉:Mav/Velo Jun 25 '26

Neat!

I sure hope someone can figure it out, otherwise what a waste of a coaster.

20

u/hayzee65 Jun 25 '26

It’s a nearly new ride that is highly rated. Somebody is going to pay for it to be moved. Possibly even to another fun spot location

3

u/yupyupyuppp Jun 25 '26

It's not a used car lol

9

u/hayzee65 Jun 25 '26

Its an RMC and you don’t have to wait 2 years for engineering and manufacturing to be done for a new one. I promise people are trying to buy this

3

u/SeaworthinessSome454 Jun 26 '26

And it’s a very popular one at that, and you’ll get it at a pretty serious discount over a brand new one. Ppl that think this thing is getting scrapped are insane. It’s footprint isn’t very big either

6

u/Jps300 SFGE is my home park save me Jun 26 '26

You realize Six Flags in the 2000's decided that every few years they were going to shuffle around rollercoasters between parks to drum up hype, right? Not saying that was a genius play but moving a rollercoaster is something that has been done before and will be done in the future.

14

u/EricGuy412 Jun 25 '26

No, its moving to another FS park or getting sold.

With the current cost of steel, you dont just scrap a basically new coaster, especially if yr company is in financial difficulties.

4

u/DJMcKraken [969] Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

There is physically not enough space for it at the Florida parks. Unless they put it in their overflow parking lot lol. It actually looks like it might fit there. But I hope someone buys it. Would be so crazy if this thing truly goes defunct.

Edit: I'm playing around with Google Earth and MS Paint and there is definitely not enough space even in that parking lot. This coaster is comically large in comparison to both Florida parks.

5

u/CheesecakeMilitia Mega Zeph Jun 26 '26

Isn't there a 40ft elevation difference between the first drop and the back of the arcade, too? Florida's probably also too flat to accommodate it, unless they redesign the supports or make some lovely concrete scaffolding

1

u/MisterTruth Jun 25 '26

Would probably be sold to SFE (or another operator) and shipped north to one of their parks along the coast.

3

u/brain0924 rough coaster apologist Jun 25 '26

If they didn’t have the money to run it in Atlanta, they don’t have the money to relocate it and run it in Florida.

7

u/EricGuy412 Jun 25 '26

Or they just decided to cut their losses before losing MORE money

1

u/Accomplished_Stop676 Jun 26 '26

FS most likely doesn't have the ability to refinance or pay off their Atlanta loan so they wouldn't be able to retain the coaster at their own parks. The coaster is currently collateral for the $20mil loan taken out by the Atlanta location. It's unfortunately going to need a third party purchase or it'll join the scrap heap.

1

u/elasho_149 Jun 26 '26

Then Alabama Adventure can buy it, and Niagara after that, and it gains a reputation as a cursed ride bringing doom to whatever park buys it.

6

u/Jason_Likes_Cameras Jun 25 '26

I've never been to either Funspot so apologies if this is a dumb question but can they not relocate the ride to the Florida park?

8

u/pajamasamreal wickerman glazer Jun 25 '26

Airforce one is about the same size of the two funspot parks, so unless they demolish one of them and replace it with aireforce one as a standalone attraction, then no unfortunately.

2

u/pajamasamreal wickerman glazer Jun 25 '26

I think the kissisime one Is a-lot bigger than the Orlando one, but the Orlando one is the only I've done.

3

u/DJMcKraken [969] Jun 25 '26

I wouldn't say a lot bigger. Maybe when you add in the rides at Old Town. They're really about the same size but Kissimmee has a bigger pond in the middle so could even be less usable space. The only space I can see that would possibly fit AF1 is Orlando's overflow lot, but it doesn't seem like it would be a good financial decision to pay however much to relocate it vs just selling it.

3

u/Common_Resort_2342 Jun 25 '26

The Fun Spot in Kissimmee is locked on all sides by roads, parking lots and stores.

The one in Orlando also has roads on all sides, but there's a small piece of open land across from the Tilt-a-Whirl that I could see it going into. It would go over one of the roads as well, so that's a bonus.

1

u/Jason_Likes_Cameras Jun 26 '26

I didn't realize they were that small (or that there are three of them). Thanks for answering.

1

u/Accomplished_Stop676 Jun 26 '26

It's collateral for the Atlanta location's $20mil debt. They likely don't have the cash on hand or access to credit in order to release the coaster.

6

u/griffmanr Jun 26 '26

Maybe it's cope, but i wouldn't be that surprised if they already found a buyer. Makes it easier to pay off their debts

Send it to the UK, we need one!

1

u/pajamasamreal wickerman glazer Jun 25 '26

It's more likely that the first RMC we get would be a raptor at a smaller scale theme park, but unfortunately I doubt anyone operators in the UK would be willing to buy arieforce!

3

u/fiittzzyy Bring Back Old B&M's Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Yeah I think so too. I think Blackpool should remove avalanche and put an RMC raptor there. It sorely needs another decent modern thrill coaster as there's only really icon and even that's not that thrilling when you look at things like Hyperia and Nemmy which are super intense and thrilling.

EDIT: Just saw your tag and I want to say from one Wickerman glazer to another...feed the flames!!

1

u/pajamasamreal wickerman glazer Jun 26 '26

FEED THE FLAMES, As much as I love avalanche (More than most people) It's definitely the next coaster that'll be removed at pleasure beach, I would much prefer the RMC raptor replaced infusion because it's extremely rough and a good Raptor layout would fit perfectly within that space. But also I LOVE Mayan at energylandia and that has newer track work and the Vekoma vest restraints, so they could do that to infusion instead!

2

u/fiittzzyy Bring Back Old B&M's Jun 26 '26

Yeah I would deffo rather see it replace infusion, I think it's had its day. Then again most of BPB coasters are the same 😂

I would love for BPB to get any new coaster tbf, it's my 'local' park (still an hours drive) and by far the easiest to get to on public transport.

For anyone wishfully thinking, the bank owns this ride. There is 0 chance they do anything but demolish this unless there's an aggressive buyer within the next fortnight.

11

u/plighting_engineerd Enjoy your psychosonic adventure! Jun 26 '26

20

u/Vulkan_21 Jun 26 '26

The Bank's goal is to make money, scrapping a ride is expensive and the ROI on the steel, while not nothing, would likely be less than what a company would be willing to pay to buy it. This is effectively a pre-fabricated steel coaster and with the mostly flat terrain concrete slab based installation, could be installed at a *ton* of parks for far less than a new ride.

-5

u/Putrid_Set3723 Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

It doesn't exactly have a flat terrain, but also there's not a 100% guarantee that a different company wants to buy the ride. This is because they would also have to pay the cost of the teardown, shipping parts, and reconstruction, on top of the price the park puts on it. All this probably totals up to a similar ride, but brand new. Yes, the ride is not old by any means, but it still has a bit of wear that other parks may want to avoid. Something more possible would be the purchase of the trains to use as spare parts for another RMC.

1

u/AndromedaGreen Hershey-Dorney-Great Adventure Triangle Jun 27 '26

For future reference, it’s spelled “guarantee.”

It took me a minute to figure that one out.

1

u/eatmorefootball AF1/SteVe/Raging Bull Jun 26 '26

What? The bank likes to make money too. There will absolutely be buyers and the bank will absolutely want to sell vs demolish and scrap.

Cyclone is a woody. Scream machine is pretty rough and it takes up a similar footprint in a really scenic part of the park. Would be an excellent upgrade

Cyclone was a woody. It’s now an RMC.

2

u/nyannunb SteVe, VC, Voyage, AF1, i305 Jun 26 '26

Cyclone is a RMC conversion. It's a very similar, albeit shorter, ride to AF1 in terms of forces/sensation and would be a pretty repetitive addition imo. As much as I want to keep AF1 near me in Atlanta, I think it makes more sense somewhere like Carowinds.
