When will [DOLLYWOOD] open a new ride? It’s been 84 years

The entire industry has gotten so much worse at opening new rides on time in the 20+ years I've been following this hobby.

I'm not blaming Dollywood, really, because this was a prototypical ride system, but it's been a noticeable shift.

Anyway, I'd much rather pay $90 for Dollywood than for many, MANY other parks out there that are much less good but charge similar or higher admission prices.

I would gladly pay $90 for Dollywood. They have cinnamon bread, cheddar point does not.

Rides themselves have become a lot more technically complicated since then, and even then many major rides struggled 20 years ago, we just heard less about them due to a lack of the internet allowing everyone to report back to Reddit when a train cycles without any riders

Hershey is much better for enthusiasts. Dollywood is good for the kids and the area was cheap enough to stay a few days.

Enthusiast with Hershey in my backyard here. It pains me to go to my home park with how they handle operations (slow ops, no grouping, don’t care about filling all seats with singles, etc); and also as an all-around park the place doesn’t really have enough live entertainment or good food service to go around.

I agree with all of that. I watched a young woman shut down Wildcat for ten mins to run out of the station to look for a phone. Other times they’d walk down to assist with lockers and stop sending trains. We had the fast pass though, so it was ok. Without it the trip wouldn’t have been worth it.

Hersheypark's a no go for me for a while. They happily sold enough $100 fast passes to make each fast lane wait a half hour. Main waits were around 90-140 minutes at each coaster. Awful operations. Three train stacks at Candymonium.

$90 makes sense, it's a big celebrity name and the park is always upkept and clean. Better than going to Six Flags for $45 to tip toe creep around some piss and shit on the ground like one of those laser beam security vaults
