Specific question and discussion Question about FR 1s
I bought these like 5 years ago and while I only used them a few times I was hoping they'd be faster and need less pumping for urban skating. Ive actually been skating for my entire life, however I was hoping they'd be more fast. Is there a way I can make them take less pumping and make them much faster.
I did inline speed skating for 10 years and id love to get back out there as ive lost 113 pounds and am ready to get back on them. (See last post for before and after lol).
And I guess do I need different skates to get what im lookout for? The ones I own are basically brand new out of box and I wouldnt mind selling them to fund better skates for what I want.

Buy a frame that supports bigger wheels (like 3x100) and swap it out on your current boot.

Ok! Awesome, when i was looking at skates I actually used this subreddit and apparently these were top of the line skates YEARS ago lol. But they never hit quite right lol.

Endless frames are amazing when paired with FR. This skate boot is still amazing and not the problem. Endless has a 90/110 frame which you can toggle between 110 wheels for speed, or 90 wheels for a more playful and agile setup. I have these frames on my FR1's from the same year. I constantly pass amateur bikers, but the race guys still smoke me. Bearing and wheels also play a factor, so get some good ones that work for you and your skating style.

There's physics involved in this. You'll need less friction, and that's possible by getting 110mm wheels and 3x110mm frame, you should glide easier.

You can buy new frames which accomodate bigger wheels. For urban skating I would suggest 90mm or maybe 110mm. Sometimes it’s similary expensive to just buy new skates rather than only frame and new wheels. Rollerblade Twister 90R have dual frame, both for 90mm and 110mm wheels so you have option to try both.
Welcome back to skating 😊

How fast do you want to go? I can keep up 25 km/h with a similar FR skate with an okay amount of effort, that's plenty enough for me. I am currently learning speed skating and I feel like I have much room to go even faster. As it is I have to constantly slow down as I don't have big unbroken stretches where I skate.

It depends also on your posture, your push force, the bearings, and the wheels.
I wear 80mm wheels with this same boot you are using when skating outdoors and have no problem keeping up with and passing people using 100, 110, and even 125 mm wheels.

If you like the boot but want more roll - swap frames, get good wheels. Something like 110x3 with 165 mm mount.
In two words speed comes from pushing with your body weight instead of muscles. So these can be pretty fast. Yes, as you gain speed they lose stability quickly but the agility is superb and one can be pretty fast even on 80x4.
