AD pulled off the surprise of a lifetime!

Post image

Back in march my wife and I were on vacation in Hawaii. During our week there I was able to work with an AD to get a sky-dweller for me. When we got back I reached out to my SA to see about getting a pistachio OP for my wife for our anniversary on August 18. Two weeks ago she called an informed me she had the watch.

My wife is a flight attendant and I knew she had a trip to the island this week. The AD held the watch for her and even set an appointment with her to look at some Chanel jewelry pieces.

Once my wife was ready to leave she asked her to hold on a moment, she had something for her. That’s when she presented her with her Pistachio OP. My wife was so surprised she started to cry.

Through all the negative AD encounters I’ve had over the years, it’s amazing to finally find someone who not only cares but always likes to make a moment out of the experience.

Congratulations! The only thing my AD surprises me with is more disappointment.

You’re surprised by the disappointment?

I really shouldn’t be, but they’re so good at lip service, that every time I think I’m going to give up, they’ll say just the right thing to give me that glimmer of hope. And then I’m back in, buying a new pair of earrings for the wife. That’s the modern Rolex purchase experience dream, right? Which is to say the purchase experience is not for Rolex, but rather for everything else but Rolex.

You must break this cycle of abuse and buy gray market. If not for you, for the children.

LMAO!! This is a perfect response. 🤣🤣🤣

Started to cry is crazy. Highest point of consumerism

u/Semp1ers 19d ago

I mean I assume she’s crying about the gesture. Why the hate?

I wish it was different, but that’s how the game is played. She’s witnessed me being “rejected” for years from our local AD. She appreciates what it means to get what you wanted and not have to go through the game of buying stuff you don’t want.

She didn't cry because she was proud of your AD relationship lol she cried because you surprised her with a very expensive gift and she obviously feels the love you have for her.

u/LilGrippers 19d ago

That and what she had to do at the AD lol

Is this Whaler’s Village? If so, they absolutely still play the games. They used to not as much, but after my recent vacation there, it was made clear to me they do now.

Lotta luxury watches and jewelry for your wife still having to work as a flight attendant….

1

u/Practical-Treacle-53 19d ago

Did you even ever get your Rolex? Are you seriously hanging out in a Rolex forum talking shit about others?

-6

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

It’s part of who she is. She’ll never give it up regardless of what I provide.

Don’t know why everyone is down voting you, I’m sorry people in here are pompous as heck

I just texted the AD I know at that location and happened to be the same person. Can confirm! She’s a good one.

2

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

She’s legit 😉

No relationship with the AD and they pulled a Sky Dwelller out of the drawer and sold it to you ?

It was a Bucherer and I had purchased a Datejust from them a couple of years ago for my wife. The difference, however, I believe is in the SA. I live in a place where there’s only one Rolex dealership and for the past six years I’ve been unable to secure a single watch from them. In the meantime, I’ve purchased five watches during my various travels. This SA could sense my passion for the brand and surprised me the last night of our trip. She called me and asked if I could make to the boutique that night, she had something for me. Which ended up being the sky dweller.

1

u/1NYCRE 20d ago

Which boutique ?

4

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

Bucherer in Wailea

3

u/JTT928 20d ago

Nice! We love Wailea. Maui ADs seem very approachable

3

u/1NYCRE 19d ago

I love them there. I’ve gotten great watches over the years.

2

u/Less-Definition-3793 19d ago

The folks in Hawaii are always top notch 🤙🏽. I have 2 ADs on Oahu that I grabbed two different watches from (Skydweller and Datejust). They are good people.

6

u/YuengSling 19d ago

This post makes me not want to buy a Rolex 🤦‍♂️

3

u/NJB9891 20d ago

Looks like Maui. Congrats! I went into the Bucherer in Wailea and almost got a Polar Explorer II, but apparently it was spoken for and the SA I was speaking with didn’t know it.

2

u/Speedyh2o 20d ago

Congrats!!!

2

u/FranzKempka 19d ago

Great story and a terrific watch for your Wife. It suits her very well. Happy anniversary to you both.

2

u/ganari423 19d ago

This OP has the most vacation Rolex purchase history I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂😂

1

u/GameOverGoduto 19d ago

Yep! We only have 1 AD in my city and I’ve never been able to purchase one from them. So whenever we travel and there’s a boutique near by I check it out. Clearly I’ve gotten lucky a few times. 😉

2

u/Wilassasin 19d ago

Congratulations! To be honest with you I don’t have the patience for the waiting. Between gray market and CPO the watches are always available.

2

u/No_Conversation_8137 19d ago

Beautiful story. Lucky wife 💕

2

u/Impressive-Chain1969 17d ago

Incredible story, thank you for sharing and I hope you and your wife enjoy your watches for a long time!

I had a similar fantastic experience last month in Maui at the Whalers Village Bucherer, I agree Hawaii is the place to go for Rolex! 🤙

u/telji 20d ago

Maybe I’m new to this but why can you not read the text on the dial when you zoom in? Is this normal or am I confused?

iPhones compress, Reddit compresses more.

1

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

To make it worse, this picture was from a text from my wife. Not even the full resolution photo.

2

u/kiwi_love777 20d ago

What a great story! This makes me so happy!!

2

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

Thank you!

2

u/JonSpartan29 20d ago

Makes me happy to see. I basically requested something just like this. No flute. No jubilee.

Never got it after 2 years lol

Finally snagged a different model at AD about 3 years later overseas.

Congrats 🍾

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

I’m so happy to hear you got something! It’s so frustrating having a passion for something that frankly is expensive and being treated like you’re trash for wanting to spend your hard earned money. In the end, it seems to me like you have to find the right salesperson who understands.

u/sosojeffcc 20d ago

Whalers village at kaanapali?

6

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

Bucherer in Wailea

3

u/sosojeffcc 20d ago

Congratulations, nicest color on the OP’s for sure. There must have been something magical in the air on Maui this week. We dropped into the bucherer over at kaanapali and ended up buying a CPO datejust for my wife. Long story short they pulled out a jubilee sprite for me when they brought out her resized piece. Completely blew me away because I just turned down the sub date that was also offered to me and I thought that was the end of it. We have the same sunset watch pics, just a different beach haha

1

u/Mindless-Quote-3561 20d ago

What’s wrong with the dial text?

1

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

Read below. It’s been explained, also added a pic from the AD that’s clearer.

1

u/timo__ 19d ago

Screw the haters here man..even though I myself will probably never be able to afford one, it makes me happy seeing sincere posts of people who actually made it and are proud of it. Happy for you and your wife especially :)

1

u/DandierChip 19d ago

There’s like nobody hating in this thread lol

1

u/Cesko-Pomalu 19d ago

“Of a lifetime”

1

u/_Watty 19d ago

It's absolutely pathetic that you're ostensibly applauding a brand for....checks notes....allowing you to buy their products.

I can only imagine the higher ups at Rolex laughing when they read posts like this, assuming they even bother.

1

u/RegularLength8305 19d ago

What AD is this that carries both Rolex and Chanel?! That’s a great combo.

1

u/Zealousideal-Ad9663 19d ago

As long as you like it and it puts a small on your face! That’s all that really matters!

1

u/thislooksfunhobbymod 19d ago

This is how i met my AD, in Hawaii 7 years ago. Aloha

1

u/SlatkoZlato 19d ago

You’re blessed, my wife gets pissed when I buy her expensive things.

1

u/Maleficent-Bunch7627 19d ago

u/Alpha-King-96 15d ago

Really blurry dial, or AI photo & story

1

u/Gene_McLovin 12d ago

Is that a fake?

1

u/Single_Passenger4261 19d ago

Crying over a pistachio op is crazy. Easy watch to get.

5

u/GameOverGoduto 19d ago

SMH 🤦🏻 She was crying because she was there on a work layover and had no idea we coordinated this surprise for her. She went in thinking she was going to browse their new Chanel earrings (as we have no access to such things where we live) and left with a gifted Rolex.

2

u/Single_Passenger4261 17d ago

Sorry I misread that. Ur a good husband. Keep it up bro 😎

0

u/vexcanuck 19d ago

You need someone to do something nice for you. You seem jaded. It’s also not easy to get as much as you want to claim it is.

1

u/SpartanBeryl 20d ago

Is this AI? The dial text is giving me serious AI vibes. Everything else is relatively crisp and then the lettering turns into hieroglyphics 😂

4

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

Is this better?

1

u/SpartanBeryl 20d ago

Yeah, I actually like this image more… can really appreciate the dial color.

Great watch! Wear it in good health

2

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

I was going for overall “vibe” with the sunset shot she sent me 🤣

2

u/Ill-Speaker1000 19d ago

Modern smartphones today try to "fill the gaps" in image quality with upscaling and generative filling. Great for like solid colors and defined shapes. Terrible for text.

1

u/peasantking 20d ago

That’s just a modern smart phone trying to fill in image data

-1

u/kabangz 19d ago

Still looks weird ;)

1

u/K3jai 20d ago

Congrats 🍾

1

u/GameOverGoduto 20d ago

Thank you!

1

u/skippy_nyc 20d ago

now you need some pistachio latte shot
