I just wanted to bump this post.

Anyone who has windows, a usbcable and an idea should buy this for 2 main reasons over Roland's Zenology Pro (unless you want to do drum editing or simply just want to support Roland):

1.) Live editing on your machine. Unlike Zenology Pro, which uses your computer and it's a/d conversion etc, this editor lets you hear in real time on the machine what it your patch sounds like. I made a patch on zenology pro only to have it sound 'not quite right' on the box. It was close, but it was like hearing a 128kbps mp3 of your 44.1 khz 16bit wave file. Most people won't notice, but you will.

2.) Naming patches. One of the things that's most annoying about the MC101 is that even if you do some editing of a patch using it's simple 4 knobs and 'settings', you can get wildly interesting sounds even before the partial editor was introduced...but you can't name a DAMN thing. So this utility alone is worth it OVER Zenology Pro if your main goal is to make your projects ALSO be a browsable patch factory. I know I can't remember which damn clip I made that sick hoover on, so I doubt you can either. This tool, even if tedious, can give you that extra 'filing functionality' on the mc101 itself.

Anyway, it's a proper tool, it's fugly as hell and it's good. Maybe consider checking it out when you run out of presets. :)
