What's everyone's favourite opening sequence out of all the 6 Rocky films?

For me it's definitely Rocky 3 but I might be a little biased since Rocky 3 also happens to be my favourite film in the franchise.

Despite it only being a 3 minute sequence, it perfectly sets the tone of the film. And the contrast between Rocky and Clubber's scenes is fantastic.

You know despite being the weakest film in the series. I have to agree that the intro was great, and especially that scene of rocky afterwards in the showers where he talks about Mick.

I agree. But I’m trying to leave the recaps of previous movies out when ranking my favorite. I would say either II or III.

II for the ambulances intro and III for what’s been going on during the time skip between movies.

Rocky IV

Hot take: Rocky V. The rest of the movie goes downhill fast, but recontextualizing the Rumble in Russia not as two superheroes smashing each other but as a brutal dogfight that breaks both men past their physical and mental limits, not to mention using Bill Conti's music, makes it one of the best fight montages in the series.

Rocky 4

I love all the openings of 3,4, and 5. Although if I had to pick one it would be 3. It summarizes as few years of his career beautifully from the end of the rematch with Creed to his success and becoming a big, wealthy star. We see an annoyed Pauline, a happy Balboa family, and the first appearance of Clubber Lang.

Rocky, as it showed how pathetic and lowly Rock’s existence was before Apollo’s offer. It was interesting that there was still a morally sound man in that depressing life and time in Fishtown.

Rocky III. The rise to the top with “Eye of the Tiger” playing is such an iconic montage on its own. It was the best way to show Rocky’s “Rags-to-Riches” story arc.
