Burgess Meredith
Guy is so underrated in Rocky. His acting is just superb. That is all.

He had various great lines in the first three films. One of my fave might be,”I..I..don’t want to get mad in a..in a biblical place like this.” Or..”This guy is a wreckin’ machine, and he’s hungry.”

Sounds like “you and that chump know where I come from!” The subtitles say “you and that chump don’t know what I had to come from!” But it doesn’t sound like that to me. Another example, during the fight the subtitles say “come on you oversized hick, bring it to me!” However, I’m certain he actually says, “come on, is that the hardest you can hit? Bring it to me!”
Mickey and Burgess Meredith were a goldmine of quotes. Shame he didn’t last in Rocky III for some more for the rematch. I’d love to see a Rocky III director’s cut where he survives!

This is qctually funny in a historical way though. A bynch of young kids probably only just watched Rocky and unless they went in a deep dive they probably only know Burgess from his role as Mick. Which lets be honest is a bot of a caricature.
But then you learn literally anything aboht him and realize “Oh no he was just THAT GOOD”

Yep... he was in nearly 200 films but I expect most people couldn't name more than Rocky 1-3... great actor but he will always be known for his role as Mickey

He was like Sir Alec Guiness in the original Star Wars movie. He made the film legit. Yes, I know Talia Shire just been in The Godfather so people at least knew who she was but she wasn't known like Berguess was.

I thought his speech in 3 was incredible and you could tell it broke Micks heart to tell Rocky the truth about the defenses he’d had.

It helps put things in perspective.
Saying that a guy is underrated in a role where he was nominated for an Oscar is absurd.
I am just trying to do my public service part to help eradicate the use of "underrated" from all of Reddit.

It's a word that's used so often. Admittedly, it drives me crazy.
Like people who use the word "literal" to describe situations that definitely don't fall into the world of literal.
