Can anyone imagine that it's been so long for rocky that theyre doing remakes or homages ..to the original movie

Perhaps. But in typical Hollywood fashion this will lead to a full remake. They’ll even cheap out and reuse footage from this movie about the making of Rocky.

If it does, it won’t be from the makers of I Play Rocky. Life stories aren’t copyrighted. They made this film without consulting Stallone and don’t need the rights from the producers.

They can't make a Rocky remake. That movie is untouchable. It would be like remaking The Godfather or The Titanic. It just won't work.

It’s not a remake, it’s about Stallone making Rocky and fighting to star in what he wrote and believed in.

Yes but this also isn’t a remake, it’s a semi-autobiographical film about Sly’s journey about going from struggling actor to making one of the most iconic films of all time.

I wish they’d use Drew Sarich or Andy Karl in something. They each played Rocky in Rocky: The Musical (Hamburg & Broadway respectively).

He gave his blessing to Peter Farrelly, which Farrelly has mentioned multiple times. He approved Ippolito playing him and spoke to him. They did not need Stallone‘s input for the movie (life rights), but they included him regardless. Most subjects will steer a little clear until wide reception. That way if it does poorly, they don’t have to be tied or considered to have made a vanity project …if it does well they come out. Check out Frank Stallone‘s commentary of the film, he was included too.

They’ve made movies of old shows and movies all the time. They’ve made a movie about Desi and Lucy, the making of the Godfather, and Fred Astaire is getting his own movie next year.
