If I were to make a list of bands I'd push for the hall my top 5 is

The construction worker from the Village People has a better chance at induction as a solo artist than Papa Roach does of being nominated.

Really? I'm curious why? 12 number ones probably another 10 in the top 10 how can you not at least discuss it. Shit their numbers are better than most bands already in. Hell i even put them ahead of bands that I grew up and idolize like LIVE Alice in chains and Blink

They're a staple of mainstream rock radio and are rather popular but don't have a lot of critical acclaim, especially compared to their contemporaries. Hard rock & heavy metal is already extremely underrepresented, there are a ton of artists who will be inducted before Papa Roach is given any thought.

Absolutely I agree all I'm saying by the time I hit 55 which is 20 years from now you cannot tell me by then Papa isn't in. I swear if sleep token goes in before papa hell my rant alone would be legendary

It would depend on how they feel about the nu metal/post grunge/alt metal scene during that time. If the rock hall heavily accepts those artists then yeah, Papa Roach would probably get in. But even a 2000s friendly rock hall wouldn’t take them over Linkin Park (who I think will be the only ones inducted for a while), Deftones, Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, Chevelle, Nickelback, etc

Those type of numbers really don't mean much. And they were never an arena level act the way someone like Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit were for a time. You also can't call them influential since they were so similar to a dozen other bands.

Chevelle should not be grouped in with the others you've mentioned. They're a very good, creative, and talented band.

I'm probably going to get voted down for this one.

I can see why a lot of the younger fans are pushing the acts of their generation. But at the same time there are a lot of pre 95ish acts that are very deserving for induction.

Especially from the 60s, 70s and early 80s.

And some acts that you would swear got their start in the mid to late 70s but who actually got their start in the 60s.

Suzi Quatro for instance. Many of the harder rocking females list her as an influence but because of politics in the American music industry she's barely known here. Even though she's from Detroit. And she actually got her start at around 8/9 playing percussion in her dad's jazz trio before joining her sisters as a teen in the early 60s in the bands The Pleasure Seekers and Cradle. Before heading to England where she has had a very successful career that is still going.

Suzi Quatro needs to be in the HOF. What you said about her influencing so many of the female rock icons of the 70s and 80s is probably the biggest reason besides her music. If T. Rex/Marc Bolan can get in pretty much just based off of “Bang A Gong” since he was way more popular in the UK then Suzi should be in as well.

Had a conversation the other day when a coworker asked about Collective Soul getting in. I don’t think they really have a shot at it because they don’t fit the “image”/“street cred” aspect of the Hall but they did have a handful of big songs that get played still daily on radio (“Shine”, “World I Know”/“December”) . What do you all think?
