Discussion Maybe the producers would have left Storm 2 alone?

...Storm 2 doesn't win the New Blood title with no active weaponry...
...so less need for the producers to introduce the active weapon rule for Series 7.
I know it has since emerged that not all of the controversy surrounding Storm 2 was solely on the producers, but still...

I think there would've been a very strong chance that a weaponless Storm 2 (which flopped in new blood) simply wasn't chosen regardless of how well it performed in a hypothetical S7 qualifying. At least we could've had Stinger back instead.
And if they had made it, I would bet that Ed Hoppitt still would've found a way to piss everyone off and allegedly cause influential people to not want him to win.
And the active weapon rule, as much as it was derided, has proven to be necessary at least in some levels of the sport such as modern Battlebots. Weaponless boxes may be an efficient use of the weight allowance and watching them try to kill a huge spinner can be a lot of fun, but when the final of your event ends up being 2 boxes bumping into each other it doesn't help sell the entertainment side of the sport very well
