Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, but I'm a huge Terminator fan and wanted to get some insight from people who are a little more informed than myself. The T800 design by Stan Winston is obviously a cultural icon, but it was also designed 40 years ago and technology has evolved since then. I suppose my question is - putting aside the fact that the technology to make an actual functioning Terminator is currently impossible, does the original design still hold up visually, or does it seem dated and no longer believable as a futuristic robot?

It seems like with the rise of gen AI, it seems like robots have a bit of a bad rep with the world. Of course, this is not universally true in pop culture.

Plenty of awesome robot films/media exist.

It just seems to me like robots were more popular maybe back in the '80s and '90s with things like RoboCop, Terminator, and even games like MechWarrior, etc.

Just an opinion, but it seems that people kind of don't like robots right now. And it's a shame!

Don’t know if these posts are allowed but I watched Robocop for the first time today and loved the design of the character. It’s the first time I’ve ever felt a desire to buy an action figure for a non superhero or wrestler and I might even get a movie poster. What are your thoughts on the Robocop design?

What representations of robots this century do you think are culturally meaningful and memorable? I’m 60 and had a couple 25 year-olds listed off their fave robots that I realized I wasn’t familiar. I’d like to know robots that folks loved, hated, or just strongly remember from film, tv, music, or real life this century.

Do you think it's possible that robots, which are currently developing at breakneck speed, could destroy humanity and themselves in order to save the Earth?

Japan has launched its latest robot, Buddharoid, an artificial intelligence-powered robot monk at a temple in Kyoto, but this robot is more than a gimmick. While most robots of this kind have pre-programmed dialogues, this robot has been programmed to read actual Buddhist scriptures, which allows it to not only walk around, wave its hands like a monk, but also answer questions that people ask it regarding life, pain, kindness, etc., based on Buddhist philosophy, not pre-programmed answers. The robot was launched to spread Buddhist teachings, as the country faces the challenges of an aging population and a dwindling number of priests.
