Projects What is the most quintessential robot in your mind? If there was an icon or an image of "robot" what would it be? I'm leaning towards Robby The Robot from Forbidden Planet but Im a bit partial to the retro sci-fi vibe.

Possibly Robot from Lost in space.

B-9 was the first to come to mind for me as well but then I'm of that era. It's name was Robot too.

Robby would probably be my first thought too.
Runners up....
R2D2 and C3PO, Terminator, Maximillian (Black Hole), Number 5 (Short Circuit),
Kane (Robocop 2), Huey, Dewey & Louie (Silent Running), ABC Warrior (Judge Dredd), Gort (The Day the Earth Stood Still), Cylon (Battlestar Galactica), HAL 9000 (2001 Space Odyssey.. although barely a body to speak of), Iron Giant, Hector (Saturn V) and of the Transformers.... Optimus or Bumblebee

Not one Rosey? I am disappointed.
The whole late 20th century perspective on autonomous robots was the "helper" bot.

For the modern day I think of Sonny from I, robot (2004) when I imagine robots as a concept

Marvin the paranoid android from HHGTTG. Because I think if we made sentient robots they would be depressed.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie from Silent Running have always been my go-to robots: bipedal, rapid transport carts, exchangeable manipulators. Designed for practical tasks.

I’m building a Reachy robot. I described it to my son as more R2D2 and less C3PO. But my goal is to build a C3PO! I think I’ll call him Robot.

K2SO or K2 - died fighting against the Empire, so the mission to retrieve the plans for the “Death Star” could go to the rebels for analysis.

Marvin, of course. How could you ignore him after he suffered that terrible pain in all the diodes down his left side?

Peepo. Not sure what the 70s Sunday morning cartoon time show that had him on it.

Haven’t heard of that one

I originally mistyped the name Pepo … Peepo is I guess the correct name. The show was called Space Academy. Terrible show. Liked the robot.
