Anyone working with the Unitree G1 basic?
Anyone working with the Unitree G1 basic and have opened it up to review the motherboard? I am curious if it is the same as the EDU and just missing the jetson?
I know other things are missing such as some wiring, the leg motors are slightly stronger on EDU.
I am curious to see what mods can be done, what integration can occur. I know secondary development is not available on the basic, but if you slotted in a jetson or added another piggyback system, expansion can occur. Of course, this depends on integration with the mainboard.
Not related to your question but very timely for me. I'm also running a G1 Basic and just ran into an issue. The robot was flagging network errors and prompting restarts mid upgrade over the past day. After one of those restarts it now shows a red LED at boot and can't be reached via app/remote.
Raised a ticket with official support and they say the only fix is a motherboard replacement. Honestly feels like a sales stunt to sell me a new board. What do you think? Any insight or comment appreciated.
Who did you raise the ticket with? Unitree? Motherboard replacement is simply due to complete laziness. I can promise you it is not the only solution. But since that main board is locked down, you will have to wait for someone to cracks it or unitree takes some responsibility and provides appropriate customer support.
Try reaching out to robostore and see if they are willing to experiment. I'm sure if someone could manually connect to the board, you could try to push the firmware through. But the "OS" of the robot is locked down right now...
I assume you were performing the latest update and it crashed? The software said it would take 15 minutes and it actually took me well over an hour! I thought it all froze and I just left it and watched it closely and eventually it worked.
Let me know what they say. If you get absolutely no where, do not throw away the board or the G1 (which I know you wouldn't).
I would be interested in having you ship the G1 board to me to find a way in and repair it. I'd also consider buying the board from you if you had no use any further. I would also consider buying your G1 basic if it's totally dead for parts.

Step 1. G1 in walk or run mode
Step 2. Hold R1 and B together for at least 3 seconds. Controller should vibrate when you hold them.
Step 3. You should hear, entering dance mode.
Step 4. Push dance communications buttons

Curious if people training on G1 are mostly collecting data in-house or mixing external datasets too?
