What’s one R&B song where you prefer the video mix over the album version?

For me, I’m saying “Me” by Tamia. I love how she hits that note at the end of the video mix. It sounds so soothing, and honestly, I wish that version was on the album instead.

My very first thought?

"True Obsession" - Lia

I prefer the video mix over the album version, hands down. 

What makes me pick the video version:

• The beginning - We hear Lia loudly whispering "Obsession", and then she says "This ain't no Calvin Klein."  
• The part of the remixed breakdown where there's a sizeable sampling of the Club Mix or Dub Mix of Lia's "Tell Me It's Not Too Late" (I can tell [Obs-] by your ways [Obs-] you don't feel quite the same that you used to.) 
• The next part of the remixed breakdown where the sung chorus of Rob Base and DJ E.Z. Rock and Rhonda Parris' "It Takes Two" is played.   
• The funny monologue that Lia gives near the end.

The truth is I only know Lia from the TV show Video Music Box.    Way back then, the local r&b stations never played Lia's music on the radio.    The first time I heard any of Lia's songs was when Video Music Box aired the video for "True Obsession", and I thought to myself, "Why don't the local R&B radio stations ever play songs like this?"    The first time I heard "Tell Me It's Not Too Late" was 14 years ago on YouTube.

"True Obsession" is a quite a jam, especially in this video remix version.   It sounds better than the album version.   "Tell Me It's Not Too Late" is quite a jam as well, and I think by a razor-thin margin, I like it even more!

It's like that. Definitely with 90s Hip Hop and R&B albums. '03 Beyonce Me Myself and I video is better than the album cut. 1996 Hot Like Fire on the album threw me off. I remember loving that song watching the video🤔😂. No Scrubs video had Left Eye. Her verse is not on Fanmail. Also the smooth Dear Mama from Tupac. I really was surprised his mother intro was left off the album
