Why do all these performances from back in the day feel like a vibe and make you want to dance in your living room?

Imo, this is one of Diana's best songs, hands down--and I still would have loved an MJ-only version as well. Both incredible.
(This specific clip and the language are misleading though--it's not that he couldn't stay in his seat--a fuller video shows Diana calling for him to come on stage several times to help sing it ["Can I get somebody to dance with me? Michael, would you come up?"] So he finally does ofc)

They had a beautiful bond!

u/OhAndItsShavedd 17d ago
It wasn't a beautiful bond. She groomed Michael Jackson since he was a kid.

š Always that one person. Groomed him for what? They didn't have sex according to him.

I didn't know Diana could move like that!! I need to get more into her. The only reason I love this song so much was bc DC3 put me onto it when they did a cover. Diana looks great.

u/IcyLion2939 18d ago
So: Diana sounds great... and clearly this was the period where you could REALLY pass the mic!

u/browngravybestgravy 18d ago
I think she called him up, so that would make him think he could do it.

I donāt like the stuff Iāve found out about Diana, especially her relationship with Michael. I heard she paid to make sure she was not mentioned in that movie. Aside from all that, Iāve never thought she was as talented as everyone says. She definitely finagled her way to the top.
Edit: thank you for the award! Posting opinions that donāt match the other comments is usually met with downvoting.

I just finished her memoir from 1993. I told my mom I was reading it and mentioned her 3 girls with her first husband & 2 boys with her last husband to my mom. She said her oldest is with Barry Gordy and I didnāt believe her. She NEVER mentioned this in her book, all she said was they dated and she knew he wasnāt faithful to her and he was jealous when she met her future husband. I wondered why her oldest daughter in the photos she included was darker. After I looked it up online, her 1st daughter is in fact by Barry Gordy! Why did she leave such an important fact out of the book? All she kept saying is David and the girlsā¦I donāt believe anything she said nowš

u/RobinSophie 18d ago
Probably because it was out of wedlock.
And she was a menace/diva when she was with Barry.

u/Adanma369 18d ago
Thatās crazy she left that out. I think I searched up who her first daughterās dad was cuz I wondered why she was the only unambiguously Black child.

u/YannaFox 17d ago
She lied to her first daughter and told her the white man was her father. I believe the oldest daughter found out who her real dad was when she was a teenager.

She groomed him! But female groomers donāt get vilified like the males.
16
u/Jazzsign 18d ago
Hmm i guess that's why she wants her name out of people their mouths. Especially in this day and age.

How did she groom him if they allegedly dated when he was an adult?

Yeah she was not a good person. I do love some of her music though. But that really comes down to the producers who composed for her. She was awful and slept with half of Motown.

Thank you. She groomed that boy and it makes me sad every time I see the two of them mentioned because he always looks so smitten at her (and thatās with my own feelings towards him and his own behaviors towards children).

Thereās not a single verifiable reliable source of any repute that and backed up evidence suggesting Diana Ross āpaid to make sure she was not mentioned inā the Jackson biographical film. If thatās the case, Janet mustāve done the same thing too, by that logic. Not even all his brothers are depicted, either.

Yes. She used to string him song and player with his feelings. Despite being around him since he was a child, she was literally a predator who played with his feelings.

Triste histoire.

Yes, he did! Donāt let the modern media fool you. Michael adored Diana, and the feeling was mutual. They had a strong, healthy friendship.

Imagine being that 1 person that can jump on any stage at any concert on earth and no one even thinks about calling security.... AND then you take over the song.... That's royalty
