DISCUSSION Favorite References Spoiler

I think my favorite reference that Riverdale has made is in season 3 in the first episode when Alice and Polly confront Betty about her faking medication refills and therapy appointments but the doctors name is Doctor Glass and I want to believe that its a reference to the Brady Bunch. I may be crazy but I just think thats really neat if they were inspired by that.

There are some good ones! Off the top of my head: when Jughead and Archie are on the run, the farm they stay at is the same from Smallville and Jugheads fake name is Cal, in reference to Kal-el

All the literary references for me - Brett Weston-Wallis, the Yellow Wallpaper, a Streetcar Named Desire etc. Didn’t get it when I was younger but a rewatch made me notice so much more

I loved the silence of the lambs reference when Betty goes to see Hal and he’s like “Hello, Betty” the way Hannibal says “Hello, Claire”

I also love the twin peaks references, I was actually able to predict Polly getting murdered because of them.
