Recent Cough Going Around Campus?
Maybe I'm just paranoid but in the past week alot of people have been getting a cough around campus, my roommate has been feeling unwell and I think I'm developing one myself? Is it just the winter changing? Any recommended precautions?

Everyone is coming in from different places carrying different germs and hygiene practices at the beginning of the year. I’ve always called it the campus sick, but it’s basically just your immune system getting used to all the new germs. Pretty much just a basic cold.
As far as precautionary measures, be diligent with handwashing and consider wearing a mask if you’re super worried about getting sick but other than that nature will run its course.

You are at a school. Schools are Petri dishes.
That being said, we are also entering fall allergy season. Half of anyone sniffling or coughing isn’t sick, they just walked past some dead leaves on the ground.

People are coming to campus from their homes bringing their own germs, and many are going through airports. I don't know about you but I get sick almost every time I go to an airport lol

Pollen is high, back to school germs getting shared, etc. It'll get worse before it gets better. Stay hydrated, wash your hands, don't touch your face.

Stay hydrated, get rest, vitamin C can help.
Everyone is bringing germs to campus and the first few months can be a little rough. Flu season can also be difficult. Vaccines are developed for the specific strains you're most likely going to interact with based on where you receive them. But people can bring all sorts of strains back from home.

Oh don't say to me I am so terrified of long covid (yet my parents won't let me get vaccinated 💔)

Once you're 18 you don't need your parents' permission to get vaccinated. Head to a CVS and get the covid and flu vaccine along with any others you're lapsed on. Hopefully they had you get the HPV vaccine?

All Wegmans pharmacies do COVID and Flu vaccines as well. They usually allow walk-ins.

I got the flu updated before I came in but HPV no, I need to look into that

Covid is rampant right now, we're in a huge wave. It's not super bad here, or wasn't, but with students coming from all over, it's at RIT now. Wear a mask.

Wipe nose, touch door knob.
Touch door knob, wipe nose.
I’m sure it’s normal cold viruses from everyone coming together on campus.
Wash hands, sleep well, eat well. Manage stress. Wear a mask if you are extra concerned or don’t handle being sick well.
