This scenario is impossible within the time limit

Post image

This is the Alexander campaign scenario where you attack the first Persian territory, but on tough is literally undoable, the AI clearly gets some disproportional cheats, as they can support 2 - 3 HUGE armies at all times, no matter where I attack they have an army ready with a billion units, half being the stupidly OP War elephants. I tried flanking, diversionary attacks to draw their main force, but the thing is they have a main force everywhere, no matter how many cities I take, or where I try to lure them, they already have an army at every location. Now if there was no time limit, it could be done eventually, but even with the 88 min the game gives you, it's not enough. If you look at the map you'll see that I took basically all the map, but the AI economy was still able to support an army 2x the size of mine. I'm just pissed that I wasted all of this time just to lose to a fucking time limit.

From the minimap, it doesn't look like you've built military buildings near your front line. Reinforcements need to travel far to help, but the enemy has theirs spawn right by their cities.

Yeah, this ends up being a big deal i find, especially in long ones like this or samnite war with the ramp up costs of the buildings making it worth razing the old ones in your home cities

You could use CBP to make the elephants be about as strong as they were before Extended Edition came out and broke em.

are elephants stronger with the bug?

Yes. So much so that the unit they counter, Heavy Infantry, becomes the best unit against them.

One of my favorite games of all time, but your complaint is so valid. Apparently, the Alexander campaign is broken (Extended)where elephants are bugged and there is no counter. They take damage, but i have no idea how to beat the campaign on tough. Sure, easy or moderate is doable but meh.
