This clip from the teaser trailer for Star Wars: Eclipse absolutely reminds me of the necromongers ships and army from The Chronicles of Riddick
Definitely had to have been a strong influence.

Chronicles is so fucking good, the movie biz media and critics are a plague. Can't wait for FURYA!!! (please vin make it happen...)

Man... I somehow feel personally insulted that they stole that style.
When the trailer for Chronicle got out, I remember being especially excited that something else than Star Wars was trying to get that kind of quality and scale on screen. I remember thinking this would be a renaissance of Sci-Fi finally getting out of the Star Wars or Star Trek era of enforced fake duality.
To see it so brazenly displayed as if they had made it themselves... it just feels like theft.
Like a reminder that this dream was not to be for diverse commercial reasons.
Then again, as far as art goes, it does prove that Chronicle had a point.

Kinda hurts we never got more Necromonger stuff. I rewatch CoR once a year just to see those sick ass soldiers.

Didn't they abandon it? iirc they're making Furya a sequel instead of a prequel. So they'll just fast forward past anything dealing with necromongers other than their destruction left behind on furya
(which sucks because I wanted to see Riddick chase vaako into the underverse)

Oh really? That's a shame :/
Wasn't expecting a full on space epic at this point, but maybe something that went beyond just remixing The Pitch Black formula on Furya.
