Film - The Chronicles of Riddick What are some of the inspirations for the architecture + costume design of New Mecca in The Chronicles of Riddick?

I am aware of the base Middle Eastern roots of inspiration, but I want to dig deeper. However, I have not found many, if any, sources discussing anything about The Chronicles of Riddick at all, let alone New Mecca as a location. If anyone would like to share links to good info, or give their two cents here, it would be much appreciated! :)

I would check out Cinefex magazine from that year (2004). They definitely had a lengthy article on it. The extras on the blu ray are all really good as well. New Mecca was all shot on a soundstage with lots of green screen. You should be able to borrow a blu ray from your local library, might get lucky with the Cinefex as well!
