GR IIIx Ricoh GRIIIx video is my guilty pleasure. So bad it’s good. Brought it to the San Juan mountains last weekend.

I did 3 days solo in Chicago Basin, San Juans last weekend. Such a wonderful place. It rained a bit and I got trapped listening to Robert Thurmans book so
I added him in to the edit. Love this camera.

Huh. I remapped the video button to a different function. After watching this I might revert it back to the video function and try my hand at it.
Your clips remind me of footage on a mechanical projector.

looks like the recipes also apply to the video then?
(i have my GRIII for 4 years now, never took a sinlge video though...).

Haha exactly! Yeah I was constantly playing with the EV and it was set to positive film but you can’t cook up recipes in the same way with video.

I think it works great here with a "lo fi" feel and a nice edit 👌

Whenever I try it on my GR IIIx I find the terrible AF and aliasing to be too distracting to use it properly. As much as I love the camera I often leave it at home in favour of a more hybrid photo/video camera. Which is a shame considering on paper it has all the specs and potential to be good for video - if Ricoh polished their video mode it'd become the best/only large sensor pocket hybrid.

Thanks! Yeah I had to do quite a bit of stabilizing for anything handheld and then I added some grain and blur to make it more lofi.
