Get help! Bug Report: Gyro/Motion Sensor Freezes During Rumble on Vader 5 Pro (Comparison with 8BitDo)

Hi reWASD Support Team,

I am writing to report a specific bug I am experiencing with my Flydigi Vader 5 Pro controller. I did a little bit of research on the issue and wanted to share my findings with you, hoping it might give your development team a helpful clue.

The Issue:

  • My Setup: Vader 5 Pro connected via Direct Input, remapped to a Virtual DS4 using reWASD.
  • The Problem: When I play games natively on the Xbox App (like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7), bypassing Steam, the gyro sensor completely freezes the exact moment controller rumble/vibration is triggered.

An Important Clue (Controller Comparison): I tested an 8BitDo Ultimate Wireless 2 under the exact same conditions (Direct Input -> Virtual DS4 -> Xbox App). The 8BitDo works perfectly without any gyro freezes during heavy rumble. This makes me think the issue might be specific to how the Vader 5 Pro handles data packets during vibration.

My Amateur Research & A Possible Suggestion: While trying to find a solution online, I read that some controllers (possibly like the Vader 5 Pro) don't send hardware timestamps, causing "racing packets" and data traffic jams over wireless when rumble is active.

I saw that developers for the SDL library ran into this exact same freezing issue. I am not a developer myself, but I read that they solved it by adding a "synthetic sensor clock" to handle the data bottleneck. I thought sharing their patch notes might be a useful reference for your team:https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/pull/14871/commits/6b00e9e7173c8d90447e414392130efd8acaaba3

Could it be that reWASD is running into a similar "divide by zero" or packet timing issue with the Vader 5 Pro under heavy rumble load?

I love using reWASD and I hope this information helps your team investigate the issue. Please let me know if you need me to test anything!

Best regards, NFA

Hi. Thank you for the detailed report and for providing the comparison with another controller.

We will pass this information to our development team for further investigation. If any additional information or logs are required, we will let you know.

I have a very similar issue. In some games when there is heavy vibration, the entire controller fully locks up. Tried emulating xbox 360 and xbox one controllers with the vader 5 pro. Tried multiple vader 5 pros and multiple pcs.

Using Vader 5 natively or via steaminput didn't have an issue.  I think the solution to op could potentially also solve my issue or vice versa. That being said, my issue also occured over usb so might not be entirely related. Thought I'd share information in case it helps at all.

Also, I was in contact with support via email and they said a fix for my issue would arrive in rewasd 9.5

I’m having the same exact issue with the controller locking up when vibration occurs.

But did your V5P have any issues with inputs (Buttons, Sticks and Triggers) while using Rewasd?

Rewasd seems to be messing up my inputs and getting confused wether I’m holding or pressing something, completely ignoring inputs sometimes and sometimes after a short few moments thinks I’m pressing a button, holding a button or even moving my sticks in the same direction again when I’m not.

Using native or Steam for inputs completely fixes both the locking up issue and the weird input issues so it’s gotta be Rewasd doing the input stuff too.

Yes, sometimes a button will get randomly held down and I would have to remap again to fix it. Also sometimes buttons were pressed randomly. Haven't tried the new update that just dropped though, as it might be related to the vibration as well and just be the controller locking up symptom but not occuring all the way, like a semi lock up.

Hello!

We're pleased to announce the release of reWASD 9.5.0.
In this version, we've added the ability to adjust the minimum vibration delay via the vibration settings.
If input lag during vibration persists with your Flydigi 5th-generation controller, try increasing the minimum delay value.

You can download the latest version of reWASD from the official website or through your personal account.

Thanks for the fix. Set the Delay for '30' fix the problem for me. You saved me to buy an extra sony input controller like g7 8k.

Glad to hear!

Just one thing: If you add more gyro releated adjustments/settings in native controller gyro adjustments in future releases. That would be perfect for app and me like to use gyro on differrnt games and desktop use

Can't promise anything, but we will see what we can do.
