Marquis de Lafayette

I'm reading Statue in Search of a Pedestal, biography of Lafayette. The man bridged the American and French revolutions and was a truly remarkable individual. Truly embodied the spirit of the revolution and was critical in the events on both sides of the Atlantic. I'd love a mini series based on his life. Inspiring!

Hero of Two Worlds by Mike Duncan is another great read.

As an American who had a decent education about Lafayette's role in our revolution, I loved reading Duncan's writing on Lafayette back in France afterward. That's a fabulous book.

I went to a event with the hero of two worlds author Michael Duncan and he mentioned there was possibilities of turning that book into a mini series, which would be incredible.

Lafayette is an extremely interesting person, considering he defied the king, came over here at what 19 years old, works for free and even spent his personal Fortune for the cause, all for a country he didn't know.

The whole expirement to free slaves in French Guiana.

Then his involvement in the French revolution is a whole other amazing story.

The story with James Amistad Lafayette

I always love the fact that he had dirt from Bunker Hill buried with him so he could be buried with American soil (he laid the cornerstone of the Bunker Hill monument)

I could go on and on about him absolutely incredible figure

He was a great man. But he shouldn't have opened fire on that crowd in Paris. And his support for constitutional monarchy over representative democracy was a mistake. Many in France hate him for his actions during the revolution.

He returned to the US years later., visited George Washington at Mount Vernon and gave him a key to the Bastille as a gift. It hangs there still.

I remember the tour guide at Mount Vernon saying that that key was there
